Got this recommendation from the Rick Steves' pocket guide. The tram stop at Muntplein is two blocks away. Large bar and cafe downstairs with seats overlooking the canal. Outside seating on the canal( it was raining). We had drinks in the bar before going up...More

Last evening I came here for dinner with my friend. The last time I was here was probably too long ago. The atmosphere was great, the food was very good too, and if you include the salad buffet you end up eating a lot. The...More

I lived in Den Haag (The Hague) for two years between the age of six and eight years. Ever since then I have returned to Holland every couple of years. About a decade ago I stumbled across Cafe de Jaren. It became a must visit....More

Modern decor, relaxed atmosphere (people working on laptops in corners), pleasant staff. A good place to chill out and have a beer or a coffee. Tables in the open air for a fine day with a terrace upstairs.

The place is great. It has a nice newspaper, relaxed vibe culture. However the staff are AWFUL. Dutch customer service is not known to be great, but this place really takes the title of worst customer service in the City. Only visit if you intend...More

True enough, it rained all day the following day. Nevertheless, we enjoyed one great evening at this cafe by the canal. The view was simply great with the boats passing by and some ordering drinks from their boat. There was not enough waiters in the...More

Great inner-city location with a delightful terrace at rear on the edge of a canal. Terrible shame that the staff are off-hand and the food is no better. My ciabatta roll was served with a steak knife to cut through it so they obviously knew...More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the

of traditional local architecture – not to mention
