Open since 1972, Bistro Bonjour French restaurant has an outdoor terrace overlooking the lovely Keizersgracht canal. Set around halfway between Waterlooplein and the Rijksmuseum, the restaurant's central location makes it a popular spot with tourists visiting the local area. Magere Brug - a typically Dutch wooden bridge - is also just around the corner. The menu is a celebration of traditional French cuisine and changes seasonally. Appetisers include steamed mussels, fried frog's legs and French onion soup. Mains are based on fish and meat, though there are vegetarian options, including a dish of the day. The desserts are also just as mouthwatering: chocolate mousse, crêpe flambée and crème brulée are just some of the options. To wash it all down, there is a good selection of French wines. In the evenings Bistro Bonjour is lit by candlelight - a very romantic way to enjoy a meal out in Amsterdam.

We arrived late in the day and they went out of their way to fit us in, a group of 8.

Ate here last night. It was busy - we were seated at 8.20. Our main courses arrived at 10.40. Not enough staff on. A new member of the waiting team was great and he was also worked to the bone. We complained to the manager...More
We found the bistro whilst wandering around and it’s nicely located by the canal. I opted for the menu of the day at 21 Euros. I had the beef carpaccio and the salmon as well as a dessert. We also had a 20 Euro bottle...More

They served nice warm bread for free. We chose the gamba's and the filet the boeuf. Good sized portions, both...More
We came here with our social deal offer and they said that they could cater for my partner who's gluten intolerant. The prosecco was nice and then it seem to go down hill from there on in as my partner ordered the stuffed artichokes of...More
Very charming old fashioned French bistro with authentic home cooking, typical French dishes well-prepared. The best part was the charming and friendly service, obviously a family-owned place run with pride and attention. Good food. Great wine list.
For ten years, I have been living two canal blocks away from this bistro, and never noticed it. But on a sunny evening when all other nearby restaurants were busy, I found a pick nick table in desperate need of some fresh paint outside this...More
We walked past this restaurant on a daily basis heading for the tram and decided to give it a go. Well, what a great decision that was! The atmosphere was very cosy and the host was fantastic. We had snails to start which were sublime...More
Nicely situated with Canal Frontage this was a very pleasant place to visit. Helpful staff, reasonably priced food and a pretty fair wine list. Nothing particularly stood out, but a very pleasant evening in nice surroundings.
