Not many people eating there when I went. Understood why. Prices are ok, food is just not very good but staff is nice.

This Tapas restaurant in the Centre of Amsterdam really brings you back to Spain. The Spanish cook is preparing the tapas with lots of love and the taste is really fantastic. The portions are really big and a good quality/price.

Best Spanish food outside Spain! Ate some typical Spanish tapas (not the paella...) and it was very decent. Thank you Juan

I have tried quite a few Spanish restaurants in Amsterdam and must say this one landed in my top three easily. We had in total 6 tapas between the two of us and every single one was prepared fresh and very tasty! Will return here again!

I am from Spain, but I will write in english so everybody reads how good this restaurant is. I went out with 4 friends (from all over europe) we wanted to have a spanish night, so we decided to go to Casa Juan. We found it easily. We ordered a Paella for 5 people, some pintxos and some tapas. The... More

This restaurant is right next to a vibrant market but was unusually empty. My wife and I wanted a small lunch and this was ideal. The waitress was lovely and suggested that we only needed to have 1 patatas ali-oli as it is quite a large dish - she was right. The albondigas was in a lovely sauce and my... More

We made a reservation through the hotel concierge before going for a family dinner. When we reached the restaurant, there were few tables with people eating, and the rest were empty. The waitress (turned out to be the only one) showed us a table and then disappeared! We waited for about 10-12 minutes without being even handed our menus, watching... More

We first went to Casa Juan in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam in May 2013 and we returned again this May. The resturant is owned and run by a husband (Spanish) and wife (Dutch) team. The restauant is not fancy but it is a typically good neighbourhood restaurant which in our opinion serves very good, authentic Spanish food. We also... More

We don´t know if the staff had a bad day, but the paella surely did not impress us; the shrimps tasted like they had been in the freezer for too long, the rise was like porridge, in addition it had a lot of ingredients that was difficult to identify. If this had been a cheap restaurant, the whole experience would... More

I went to Casa Juan for a romantic dinner with my partner. We order a sea food paella, which turn out to be as good as paellas are back in Spain. Price is not cheap, but reasonable (21€/per person) considering the ingredients: fish, prawns, clams, mussels... The price of paella in Spain could easily be higher than that. It was... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
