While the restaurant may appear unassuming the chef’s inspired Italian fine dining certainly is not. I enjoyed a well crafted, fresh, and tasty lunch at one of Brussels’ finest Italian restaurants, Ristorante San Daniele. The tagliolini with Amalfi citron and caviar was outstanding (and my...favorite), and the veal cooked to perfection. Chef Franco Spinelli and his staff did a wonderful job and made for a memorable lunch. Grazie Mille!!More

We like Italy very much. Being a fan of Franciacorta and Nebbiolo wines, the vist to San Daniele didn’t disappoint us. We didn’t go for the ‘menu degustazione’ but chose a 3-course meal à la carte. The lobster salad was very good, as was the...vitello tonnato, the pastas and the main dishes - the food is obviously Italian but very well made. Some suggestions for improvement: 2 people for all the tables is borderline.. it caused our coffee/tea to be served too early - while our wine wasn’t finished yet. In a 1* level restaurant waiters should notice this.. Also personally I would appreciate a bit more ‘adventure’ on the plate.. but then.. who am I?More

We enjoyed the degustation menu (110€ pp) We opted for the 35€pp wine package as the wine card doen't propose wines below 50€ per bottle. The food is delicious. It's italian. it's made with tasty, expensive ingredrients (foie gras, tuna, coquille, truffle, bass, ...) However...for a one star Michelin restaurant and this kinda budget, one could expect more creativity, more complexity. If you're looking for a gastronomic experience with innovative combinations, this is not the place. It's definitely the restaurant you'd visit for business diners when the budget is less an issue and you're sure to get delicious food that everyone likes. Service is friendly, classy but still somewhat Italian fuzzy. You can tune the menu if you'd like to change a course. The maitre D also suggests changes based on the what the season and the market offers. Upstairs there are private rooms available to have diner meetings. Parking in the area is a challenge.More

I had the privilege to celebrate the 18yh birthday of my doughter in the restaurant. The food, wine and generally the service was excellent as always. What was a real cherry on the cake was the discrete way we got a little attention for the...birthday (we don’t like loud happy birthday things ). It was an evening we will remember.More

This was my 5th visit to San Daniele in about 5 years - we come back every year in the truffle and game season. I don't have a habit of writing reviews, but the continued exceptional quality deserves more attention. We had the tagliolini with...truffle as a starter, followed by the phesant au fine champagne. I have no words that do justice to the phesant that is prepared by the master of the house at the table. Truly unique. We live in London and have lived in Ghent and Milan and I haven't found any restaurant that is able to serve such a dish. We drank a Langhe Mascarello (2016) for 75euro, which is a very reasonable price for a Mascarello (I feared it would be too young, but it was an excellent flexible wine to go with the phesant!). While respecting formalities, the service and warmth makes you feel welcomed in a family home. Do not expect the typical Michelin innovations, trick shots or pleasanteries. This restaurant is a celebration of pure ingredients and tradition. Don't be fooled by some negative reviews here. Sometimes people just don't know what they are talking about. You have to learn and appreciate Italian traditions and wines before you judge. Yesterday we heard the table behind us asking about the Langhe Roagna (I believe also at 75 euro!) what sort of strange wine it they were being served - they didn't realy like it "as it tasted a bit like port or madeira". My god. Enough said. This is a magnificent experience for those who appreciate old traditions and pure ingredients and a great wine list. Thank you San Daniele for the continued service! I believe that this is one of the best italian restaurants in Brussels. It serves traditional Italian dishes but cooked to perfection. The wine list is impressive (be it a bit expensive but the sommelier recommends excellent wines at acceptable prices). The facade of the...restaurant does not look like much but let this deter you. A practical point is the nearby parking (free) behind the basilic church.More

Sophisticated Italian restaurant with delicious food. Slightly expensive, but it worth every penny! You receive generous amount of little appetizers, really good food and, what I personally find the most important, excellent attentive service. Ideal option for both romantic dinner or business lunch.

I went with my wife on a friday evening with moderate expectations. The restaurant is on a very busy road and at first glance the front looked a bit uninviting. This was because the heavy front door and thick windows were meant to isolate the...restaurant from the busy road and I must admit it works very well. We got a warm welcome and we were the first guests at the rather early time of 6:30 PM. Restaurant has a traditional style and I do not like fixed carpet on the floor in a restaurant but this and all the rest was meticulously kept. Prices looked rather high to me for an Italian restaurant but I had to revise my opinion. We got several delicious and very creative "amuses" and by the time our starters arrived it felt like an in between course after starters. My wife is a vegatarian and it's the first time I notice a restaurant spontaneously adapting the "amuses" to a veggy and a non-veggy version after we ordered our dishes. Food was outstanding, tagliolini with truffes got plenty of truffes grated on it. We don't fancy desserts but I got intrigued by the strawberries marinated in olive oil with white chocolate ice cream. Heavenly! Also a varied wine card with lots of surprises. Service was friendly and attentive. Can't wish for more. We'll be back.More

I was there with friends. The carte is not very tempting, as you can find a lot of very classic italian dishes, nothing with a twist. But everything was well cooked. Portions are sometimes ridiculously small (5 paccheri for 35€!). The place is oldfashion. Service...in the other hand is great.More

We made reservation 1 hour before lunch. A table for 2 was still possible, and we got a very nice table in the back of the restaurant, at the window. I loved the welcoming right away. This is a no nonsense place. No unnecessary chitchat,...just to the point, taking the coat, appointing a table and get informed about how things go. The 3 course lunch goes for a reasonable 60 EUR, including 1 glass of wine. Everything was perfect from starter to the dessert. For the starter and the main course, we could choose 1 out of 2 suggestions. The coffee was not top class. Nespresso if I'm not mistaken. It's ok, but a home made Lavazza would undoubtedly have tasted better. The waiters are friendly and to the point. They have an eye for detail. Supposedly, there's a parking possibilities in the neighbourhood, but you might want to inform before hand. The restaurant is situated on a big avenue, but it is very discreet. Loved the experience. Will be back.More

Not sure it is correct to judge a restaurant based on the food served on the "famous" Resto days but I will try to be as honest as possible. We had lunch and everyone gets the same menu, you can't chose your food. The staff...was quite nice and attentive, but we were not impressed by the food. The best was the bread, on the other hand the 3 dishes seemed rushed an uneventful. 5€ for an Nespresso is a scandal. In all fairness, maybe if I would have chosen of the card, maybe I would have liked the food, but like this, we would not come back.More

San Daniele is located in Ganshoren, in the proximity of the Koekelberg Basilica. From the outside, the restaurant looks nothing special, and unfortunately, the same feeling prevails when entering the restaurant. It's a refurbished home, with design touches from the late 90's. Nothing new, nothing...fancy. The welcome was friendly, correct and multilingual: Dutch, French, English and of course Italian. A glass of champagne or prosecco was offered, followed by some amuses. Good, but not something to remember. We went for the Italian Specialty menu: Carpaccio, Noix de St-Jacques, Taglioline, Filet de chevreuil and Cappuccino. The Carpaccio was nice, with plenty of black truffle. The St-Jacques were a bit overcooked, but the accompanying sauce was tremendous. And again, truffle galore! The Tagliolini with, again, truffle was correct, just like the filet. The small cappuccino vanished before I could take a picture. The highest level of inspiration was found in the dessert: the pear with a brownie bottom. Was the food terrible? No, not by far. Food quality and flavor were good to very good. But just like the interior, the dishes could use some revamping.More
