My wife and I stayed at a local hotel at Mawnan Smith and as we travelled by train, the Ferryboat Inn was within walking distance from the Hotel. The Inn seemed to attract many families mostly local, all enjoying the post Christmas atmosphere. Dogs were let loose on the beach, permitted at winter time and we had fun watching the... More

We had a nicer post Christmas walk along the river and decided to pop in for a pint and a bit of lunch. We got a table near the open wood fire which was lovely and cosy on a cold winters days. Lunch was nice and well prepared and we enjoyed what we had although more fish choice would have... More

Situated in a beautiful position right on the beach. Great service and food made for a lovely evening - there was a mixture of drinkers outside and diners in. We really enjoy our time here.

Well kept "Proper Job" and sensibly priced Bombay gin. Picnic benches out front are ideal for people watching on the beach and water. Menu, wisely, heavily orientated to fish lovers.

On a wet winters day, when visiting family, what's to do? Well you could start by finding an eating establishment that exudes a warm atmosphere (check out that lovely open fire), provides English character and is set in a stunning area (check out that river estuary). Next, mix in a welcoming front man (Jason), whose personality and enthusiastic greeting is... More

We were out for a walk (more of a drag actually) with 2 boxer pups and dived in here for a quick drink, which extended to lunch and several drinks. Very good reception in there from the staff, very good ales on tap and the food was lovely. Not sure when I am likely to be out that way again,... More

There is some parking out of season in front of the Inn on the river frontage, but safer to park where indicated at the top of the hill and walk down to the lower residents park and down some further steep steps. It was a rainy grey day, but still most tables were full except those outside. Prices were as... More

Right down by the estuary crossing, a proper pub with good beer, wine and food. I can vouch for the native Helford oysters, fresh, so fresh and reasonably good value. The fish and chips were as excellent as expected for a seaside venue. Espresso was good too. Beware wine servings - my large red turned out to be a 125+175... More

Description
The Ferryboat Inn has been overlooking the beautiful Helford River Estuary for over one century. It has now been taken over by the "Wright Brothers" from the Wrightbrothers Oyster and Porter House and their oyster farm in Cornwall. It now fullfills all the expectations of a pub and combines an oyster counter and a small restaurant.
