This was one of the best meals we have ever had! Our hotel recommended this restaurant, and after checking the reviews on TripAdvisor, we were excited to visit. Be aware, this restaurant is only open during the week and only has one evening seating. You need to be at the restaurant before it opens at 7, and we waited in... More

Listen, there is a reason why this lovely place has a nearly flawless 5 star rating on TripAdvisor. Let's get the basics out of the way first: The place has only 9 seats and does only 1 service per night, that's it. So get there before 7pm to guarantee your place. The owner, Seu Domingues, is one of the warmest... More

Choosing a restaurant that is highly rated is not always a guarantee that your experience will be the same. But in this case it is all true. My husband and I were super lucky last night when we arrived to the Botequim da Mouraria to find two primo seats. That was the beginning of an evening that we stay in... More

Didn't even know that this place was rated #1 in TripAdvisor when we happened to pass by hungry at 7pm as it was opening for dinner. Just one other couple was there. As everyone says, it was a wonderful experience. Tiny, cozy, super-pleasant owner-waiter-cook-sommelier (which is amazing as you might think he'd have a swollen head from all these great... More

Even if it takes a lot of waiting.... Excellent food, very kind maitre. Maybe it's less crowdy for lunch.

We took a day trip to Evora to visit the Capela dos Ossos and to eat at Botequim da Mouraria. We showed up at 11:45 for lunch but there was no one around so we decided to wander around the area. When we circled back shortly after noon, there were already four other people in line. This normally wouldn't be... More

We were visiting Evora on our way back to the airport in Portugal and decided we'd like to have lunch, even though it was early and thank goodness it was early ....we had the last 2 of 9 seats - subsequently several couples were turned away. The interior is so tiny that I thought there must be an upstairs but ,... Plan your evening to accommodate a meal with Domingos, the host with large personality. The restaurant is small so be prepared to be turned away. The menu is well worn with a favourites that will appeal to most wanting to try local cuisine. He pairs the wines well so go with his suggestions. Conversation, good food and drink made for... More

We read about place and were very blazé when we got there for lunch @ 12pm: saw a 6 people queue and decided to go next door for a coffee. Almost missed out on a fantastic lunch. The place is tiny, but sr. Domingos does everything to help you relax. We opted for tapas style lunch: having 5 entrees, accompanied... More
