my favourite restaurant on the island, the atmosphere, the decor, the family service and food all are a must if you want to enjoy fresh fish or a local steak, in a family served environment with a top Galician chef long established in the island. top notch views, awesome to watch the sunrise on Pico's peak or the sunset over... There were not many restaurants open when we went to Sao Jorge in September but this restaurant was great. The food and service were excellent. The owners were the only 2 people working, the husband made all of the food and the wife took care of the tables. The steaks were excellent (we got them 2 different ways), as was... More

Outstanding flavours await at this restaurant. I would stick with the seafood dishes as the meat we had was a little tough. Have been here several times and would come back. A bit pricy compared to some other places but its worth it.

extraordinary crafted decor imitating almost a Bali Hut with glass around the outside walls providing a full view unimpeded over the majestic Pico's peak. Nice well cooked and presented meals with a medium sized menu enough to satisfy choosy customers. always filled on weekends and public holidays. It has been operating for 13 yrs with the same Galician cook. Quaint... More

The food: fresh and local ingredients, some original recipes, very tasty. The place: original restaurant, 10 min from Velas, with a good view to Pico. The prices: is not very cheap, but is worth for 1 special dinner.

We visited this restaurant again while in Sao Jorge after 3 years and previously had a great experience but unfortunately not this time! We waited for 1 hour 45 minutes to get out food! No one even apologised for the delay or offered anything on the house etc, the restaurant is clearly not prepared for a busy night service and... More

Level of service is low, as apparently many places in the island, but the food is nice. Prices are adequate for the mainland but a bit expensive when compared to the average salary in S. Jorge. You know that they're taking advantage of the tourism (eg: an expresso costs €0,80, whereas in Vilamoura, a highly demanded place in the South... More

Went for lunch, and we were not disaapointed. We had clams for starter and then the cataplana de peixe e lapas which is fish and lipets cooked in a traditional pot - we were not disaapointed. Good service, and not too pricey at all.

The outside of the restaurant needs a good cleaning/weeding, cannot tell where the entrance of the restaurant was. Took the kids to wash there hands in the women's bathroom, I was told that the sink does not work and they had to wash there hands in a sink that was by the kitchen, but they did not have soap. We... We are picky with food and prefer to too have lots of high quality vegetables. This is something we didn't get since we came to the Azores one week ago. In most of the places we got a pile of fish or meat with rice or potatoes. Yup "fornos de lava" we have been there twice for lunch and we... More
