ou look for a restaurant and you come across Cozinha D´Avó, located in a country club you expect to findWhen y a place were the fauna is all jet-set folks and lots of rococo things which we tend to avoid because one thing we don´t...like it´s places that are more than what they really are. At first we were thinking about not going because on holidays you wear flipflops, tops, tshirts, tenis shoes, jeans, shorts and don´t wanna go to a place where everybody is very well dressed like the Queen of England herself is in the room. Surprise! This restaurant it´s none of that. Although it´s inside a country club, and sometimes this country clubs in Portugal are very pretentious, this one has nothing on that. Absolutely the opposite. It´s a fabulous place to sit and eat excelent food, with a great and nice staff and a great view to a swimming pool and garden with lots of different trees. The room its big and very well decorated without being over the top. It has what it needs, not more not less. Just well balanced. The food well, that´s what really counts here. We were blown away. Absolutely delicious from appetizers to desserts everything it´s made and presented to you as regional and without any fancy or too much "bs" you find on superstar restaurants. Here you get regional made by Granny and Granny knows what she is doing. Believe me. This is by far the best restaurant we found in Covilhã area and we will surelly go there again without a single doubt. We loved it. Yes, it´s a bit pricy but for what you eat and what you feel in every bite you take, it sure it´s worth spending some 50 euros for two and enjoy one of the greatest meals we ever had on our vacation. That was really a great way to kick off or well deseved vacations and all i can say is: go there, open your mind, get in and indulge yourself in what we consider to be the best place to eat regional food in the area. Visited this place last week. It was highly ranked on tripadvisor, and we were staying for a week around Covilhã, called them and 10min later arrived. The place is very quiet and comfortable. Loved the relaxed scenery and the views overlooking the garden and the...pool. Great for families, and understood its quite popular among locals, although not walking distance from the center (car is needed). The food was reasonable and the table of deserts amazing! Just found a very poor wine list, should be improved in the future.More
