Very tasty dinner. The meals were simple, but very good. My husband had shrimp curry. The curry sauce was excellent. The only downside was the shrimps were whole, head to tail. Peeling shrimp is easy, but in a sauce is very messy. I had grilled...cuttlefish. It was tender and very good. It was served with boiled potatoes and a green salad. The service was outstanding. Our waiter, sorry I forgot to ask his name, was absolutely delightful and very knowledgeable. I would go back to enjoy another dinner and spend the evening with him.More

It is always a good sign when half the guests are clearly locals. This restaurant is content to keep things simple and is all the better for that. Ask for a fish recommendation to ensure the freshest catch and order the 'Crescendo' to go with...it. You will not be disappointed with either!More

A nice restaurant close to Cascais, where we felt like coming to a friend’s family - including the warm welcome, delicious mama-style food, cordial service and great value at modest cost. You have to try this place if you want to experience original Portugal!

Had tea here in October. No reservations allowed, so we got there promptly, and the restaurant filled up very quickly with locals and tourists. Stunning simple and delicious food, well priced, and good wines to accompany it. Sea food is very fresh. Excellent desserts too.

An excellent evening. From the outside the O Carloto looks like a small restaurant. Once you walk inside you're greeted by friendly staff and the smell of great food. We had traditional Portuguese food and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was quite loud, relaxed and...happy, people enjoying their evening's. Excellent service and value for money. We will be back and definitely recommend it.More

We ate there nearly everyday since our first meal during our whole stay near Cascais! This never happened to us before! We are a family with 2 kids. We parents both are quite demanding in terms of food and restaurant. O Carloto won our stomachs...by its simple but so delicious food, and won our heart by the very nice patron, his super chef mum and all the friendly staff! We tried most of the dishes on the menu, never disappointed, just nice surprises. I ate clams everyday! And my husband took grilled pulpe several times. I rarely eat pork, but their ribs were so good that I ate quite a lot from the plate of my son! Then came their mouth watering deserts. Normally I only like chocolate as desert and am quite picky about it. Their chocolate cake was just amazing! One of the best I’ve ever had. We liked almost all of their deserts, it was just too painful for us to have to give up some every time!More

Food and service of very good standard at a competitive price. Only recommendation is for some noise isolation (cork roof?) as it becomes quite noisy when full.

Unpretentious family run restaurant. Bruno smiles and runs it on that smile. Great value , modest food, large Portuguese menu. Eat solo or two or 16 and it’s still the same place. Open plan kitchen. No hidden frills. Paper table clothes. Vast rack of ribs...if you like your pork ! Great home made desserts Highly recommend if you accept it for what it’s worth, a friendly well run family restaurant in a far changing to close to Cascais world. Book maybe if at weekend. It’s local liked and popular.More

During our stay in Cascais we went to O Carloto and liked so much the food, the service and the ambience that we repeated, twice!. They don't have an extended menu. Which is not necesarilly bad. They serve fresh, good, home-made, Portuguese food. Really really...recomended. One of the few restaurants in this coast area, out of the center of Cascais, not for tourists but locals. Also top cleansiness.More

We stayed at a local campsite and decided it was too far to walk down to Guincho beaches for an evening meal so looked inland. O Carloto was a 5 minute walk away. We booked for 7.30 on Saturday evening, bit early but we were...moving on the next day. It was not too busy when we got there but over the next couple of hours......! The chef took our food orders, octopus, sardines, clams, octopus Portugese style and said he liked our choice. Although it was a fish meal we prefer red wine so we asked a waiter what he recommended...he immediately pointed to one of the cheapest wines on the menu, only 12.5% and about 8.30 euros a bottle. The full wine list was extensive as was the display of fresh fish available and priced per kilo. Fish was brought to table to make sure size was ok before it was cooked. By 8.30 the place was heaving, almost all locals (this was late September) and the atmosphere was lively and lovely with young children on several tables. Total bill for two courses for each of us and a shared bottle of very nice wine.....51 euros. Great value, great find.More
