Checked trip advisor for piri piri chicken in Lisbon and this place came up. Not the most up market premises, although not bad at all, but the food was superb. Price wise very reasonable indeed! 5⭐️ rating from us!

The Piri Piri chicken here is excellent and a total bargain for 6 Euros for a half chicken. My daughter also had the seafood rice and that was very tasty too. Most Lisbon restaurants charge for olives and bread but if you don't touch them, they will not charge you. You do have to go through a gauntlet of restaurant... More

A simple restaurant. We sat outside on a beautifull day. We had heard that the piri piri chicken was good here an that's why we decided to go there. We all ordered the piri piri chicken and it was divine. For sure the best chicken I have ever had. And we were all extremely satisfied. The rest of the sauce... More

We went there as it has a high rate in trip advisor , the quality of food was good and service well but the bill was disappointing. As soon as we sit the waitress put 3 things on the table without asking us and we thought it's free , we tried all but not our favourite, we ordered drink and... More

Bonjardim was recommended to us by a friend and the chicken with piri-piri sauce was so delicious and juicy and for €6 you can't go wrong! We went here on our first day and came back on our last day because it was just so good and affordable. The Rice pudding is also very delicious and is a must have

We visited for the chicken and chips and it did not disappoint. The chicken was moist and the skin was just crispy. Chips were tasty too, big portion size so you don't need one each! We went early for lunch and the restaurant was full when we left.

Arrived it was very busy, although we did get a table straight away outside as there were four of us and other waiting where couples. The waiter seemed very stressed, as he forgot thing that we ordered, like the salad, although they where not on the bill either which was good. The chicken was lovely and the chip portions where... We visited this restaurant as it was recommended in our guidebook for its spit-roasted chicken and we really enjoyed our meals. The chicken was tender and tasty, the creamed spinach was lovely and the portion sizes were generous. The atmosphere was pleasant but would have been better if it hadn't been for an absolutely terrible and clearly drunk busker attempting... More

We visited here specifically for the chicken and chips and we were not disappointed. The fries were crispy and the chicken was tender with deliciously crispy skin, and the peri peri oil you can brush on is also great. The food was simple but lovely, as with all portuguese food! The staff are friendly and get comically annoyed at everyone... More

The chicken and chips were excellent. However, our order got lost (probably because it was so busy) and we had to remind the waiter. He was apologetic but we had a long wait. Excellent value though.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
