The food was very good. Vegetable soup was as it was in my childhood and the garlic and raw egg soup with coriander leaves was a delicous discovery. My pork with pil pil was tasty and my partners grilled grouper was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was far from exciting - the place was empty - but it looked (from the... More

This restaurant in downtown Lisbon has excellent traditional portuguese food and a great Wine cellar. It should not be missed.

This is a tiny restaurant (only 30 places!) and it's popular! We wandered in a couple of days ago and were told there was no room! So today we went back, booked a table and really enjoyed our meal. The house wine is excellent (and cheap - 6 Euros for a litre). 'Mein Host' fussed around, keeping everyone happy and... More

Best meal in Lisbon, chance stop for lunch at a popular restaurant. Excellent fish dishes, beautifully presented. Only one chef in the kitchen so dishes can take a while to appear. House wines excellent by the carafe, and lovely port to finish the meal. All very professionally served by the two waiters. Will return next time in Lisbon

Third time I've been to this restaurant and it never disappoints. It has become a habit to stop by every time I visit Lisbon. Food here is amazing. Codfish with bread crumbs is out of this world and so is the octopus. Highly recommend this if you want great traditional Portuguese food. Good service, may get vrowded at times but... More

Great food. Be patient as it is usually quite busy full of locals. Need I say more. Sea bass for 2 was great and don't forget dessert and coffee. I'm going to try the octopus next.

From the outside, this tucked-away restaurant looks like many others, however inside it is top class and well worth it's high reputation. It doesn't feature a tourist fast food menu, offering well cooked Portugese dishes which are truly delicious! The other diners are mainly Portugese, tables are booked so you may have to wait for one to become free however... More

This restaurant does not look much from the outside, with a rather old-fashioned frontage. However the food was very good, service was efficient, and great value for money.

I can only agree with the positive reviews already posted. One of the best meals I have had in Lisbon

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
