Stick to the Indian food which is varied and tasty. The Insalate Verdi is exactly that, a plate of green, i.e. lettuce and cucumber. Recommend the Goan fish curry and enjoyed the lamb dhansak, beef bhuna and chicken vindaloo.

Good indian food at reasonable prices, the restaurant could do with a bit of updating for their decor but good nonetheless. Lots of choice on their menu for vegetarians. The staff could have been a bit more welcoming, I was made to seat myself when I entered.

Great food for a cheap price! The children had pasta and pizza, and the adults had indian food. Brilliant! Everything we ordered was very tasty! We were told in advance to try the Mango Lassi, and I am really glad we did! It was delicious. We will most certainly go back for another meal.

We live in rural France, so that the only time we get Indian Food is when we visit London or the US. We were so thrilled to find this wonderful little Indian restaurant walking distance to our hotel. They were welcoming and it smelled so inviting as we entered. Everything was freshly prepared and absolutely wonderful. The poppadoms were so... More

Not rating it a 5* just because it has this modern concept of mixing indian and italian food in the same restaurant. Ok, it has two rooms and two menus, but still indian is indian and italian is italian! Service: professional. Staff: professional. Menu: excellent. Food: excellent (even the hot spicy dishes are well balanced). Average prices.

This restaurant has an italian menu & an Indian menu but mixing in a group can cause problems. On the next table 1 person ordered Italian the rest Indian. The Italian dish came 25 mins before the first Indian dish. It was 20 mins before we got any drinks. The food was really nice when it did finally arrive. Plus... More

Pretty good Indian food. Service was good and food was served on warm plates and the beer in cold glasses.

After really trying to like Portuguese food for several days, we finally threw in the towel and decided to not try any more cod and went for cuisines we love. I didn't have high hopes for Indian food in a touristy area but was blown away. We had the butter chicken and chicken Tika masala with plain rice and naan... More

We were recommended this restaurant by another restaurant, that was fully booked on Christmas eve. Even Gandhi Palace was almost fully booked but the service-minded waiter managed to find a table for us two. Excellent Indian food with a variety of dishes and very good service. Of course we went there also the next day, December 25. Please do not... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
