This small restaurant is awesome with great Portuguese food and service for a price that its fantastic. It is located close to downtown Lisbon. If you take the tram or bus, average travel time will be 20 minutes.

A great little Portuguese restaurant with an excellent menu and the size of the meals is fantastic. Service is very friendly and quick. Thoroughly recommended for the Lisbon traveller on a budget.

This is on "restaurant row", but significantly one of two that do not tout for business, which says a lot in this tourist "hot spot". On both visits the service was friendly and efficient and the place has a pleasant relaxed vibe. On our first visit I had cod fillets in beans and rice-excellent, and my wife had grouper, which... Located in the heart of the historical district. Two small halls and an esplanade. The cuisine used to be very tasty and cooked in the traditional Portuguese way. Today, it's just one more of the many tourist spots that are lined in the street. Too much noise, not so much quality. It has lost its genuine popular charm. Staff is... More

The couple we traveled with prefer much more discreet, hometown places to eat--but even they admitted this was a good experience and not overpriced. The four of us ate our fill and a bottle of wine for under $60E. We won't be back--but glad we were there once.

The location is very convenient as it is begins a long line of restaurants that run along this street. Food was generally above average but not particularly memorable. Don't bother with their cod cakes because the likelihood of finding any cod inside was non existent when we dined there. More like mashed potato cakes. Sea bass was well cooked and... More

We enjoyed lunch sat outside. Portuguese swordfish, sardines and steak with fries. Service was quick and friendly and the good was good and plentiful - with drinks it cost around 35 euros. There is no children's menu but we asked for a small steak and they obliged, charging just 6 euros Menus are available in lots of different languages. One... More

This place was recommended by our tour guide, Jorge, as providing decent food, friendly service and good value. He wasn't wrong. In a pedestrianised street of many similar establishments this was the only one not actively touting for business, hardly surprising as it was practically full. Always a good sign. An extensive menu, in 9 languages, it isn't exciting but... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
