Take the chance to sit outside and eat at this nice place in a nice location. They're super friendly and the local food is good.

My friends and I stayed for a long weekend in Lisbon and found this restaurant. The owners were very welcoming and both the food and service was excellent. I recommend you try it.

Stayed for a long weekend and F&G in Barrio Alto was the best restaurant we ate in Lisboa. Very nice and cosy place with traditional and excellent food. Prices are very reasonable with a quick, kind and attentive service. We tried to go back on Sunday lunch but it was closed unfortunately. If you are looking for a good simple... More

This is obviously a place that targets tourists, considering its location and the multi-lingual menu. But this is just a very nice place, small and clean with very friendly service, and overall very good value for money. With the extra bread and cheese (that was simply suggested and we could have refused) delicious grilled fish, octopus and nice wine the... More

This is a lovely traditional Portuguese family-run business. One of my earliest moments of hospitality in Lisbon took place here, as I had the pleasure of visiting this warm and dimly-lit restaurant on my very first evening in the city. Solo-dining was something I was rather self-conscious about, but João and Celia were rather friendly and made me feel very... More

The cheese starter is a bit cheeky but I guess they do that everywhere. The staff are really great, food was lovely. Good value for money. Place feels very well looked after. Attentive. Very happy :-)

The tuna steak is fantastic! The service is very good, and the owners are very nice. We've been there in 2015 and we came back twice this year. We'll definitely eat here again our next time in Lisbon.

We went to a small place called Faca & Garfo. To find it, we had looked in all of our travel guides to see if any of them had mentioned Bonjardim, which had been our favorite restaurant so far that week. Only the Lonely Planet guide mentioned it, and so we used that guide to find us a restaurant in... More

Not a representative place of the food in Portugal. Cold cod ,cold rice ,pre heated sausages. Expensive wine an a tricky tapa that they placed at the table much more expensive than the main course. Worst restaurant i have ever visited in my life.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
