We have been in Lisbon for a month and Bruno's restaurant is a weekly must. Not only for the wonderful food but for the hospitality. We are always greeted with smiles and a feeling like we are having a family dinner with friends. It is a great place to have a relaxing night eating and enjoying wine with a wonderful... More

We were deciding to have dinner in that place, but the menu and smell in a restaurant made us to choose place on other side. When we decided to leave, the waiter told us : " go to hell"! First I was in shock, but then when we said feedback to other waiter he completely ignored us and just smile.... More

We sheltered here on our first ever visit to the Alfama district during a heavy shower. It was like Santa's grotto with amazing food and drinks. We both enjoyed black pork, which was exceptionally tender, whilst looking at our neighbours' sardines, which looked and smelled amazing. The house wine from a box was delicious, followed by good coffee and our... More

I don't eat fish. Ordered Lamb. Five thin sliced nicely cooked chops were delicious. I know Portugal is all about the fish, but this meal was very good. Comes with salad and fries. Service was excellent. Waiter spoke English. Nice experience in the Al Fama district.

My husband and I stopped here when we could not find the restaurant we were looking for. Don't waste your time. Food was not good, service was not good, but at least we could hear the Fado concert next door. Don't waste your time or money!

Unfortunately I was served horrible food here. My calamari and shrimp were frozen, cold and chewy like a shoe sole, they were served with oil trenched fries and I got charged 15€ for it. When I complained about the quality of the food the waiter just made fun about me and on top tried to rip me off on the... More

I went there last sunday to eat the typical portuguese grilled sardines ("sardinhas assadas"). A terrible experience and an unexcusable lack of respect towards the customers, specially those naive tourists who never tried this typical food before. The plate came with four sardines, but three of them were very small and completely dry (real straw!) and the fourth one was... More

The whole area is very touristy and most of the restaurants are the same. The food was just OK. The staff quite friendly but seemed a bit clueless. They kept giving the wrong food to clients.

It had a Trip Advisor Award outside and we asked if genuine they said yes - the mixed grill came up Pork Chops looked Grey (Uh!!). Steak came up so thin swimming in something watery with egg on top - have to say we couldn't wait to leave - sangria watery no taste. As soon as we could we got... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
