A small restaurant, centrally located, offers a small but delicious menu. Be prepared to queue as this is a very popular place. The food was amazing , we ate the octopus, swordfish and picanha all cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and friendly. A definite place to visit and one that I would recommend very highly.

This small restaurant near the Rossio railway station is very popular and it means you will probably wait a few minutes outside :-) But it definitely worth. Menu is simple, but everything we had (octopus, sardines, prawns and salad) was fresh, tasty and affordable! Highly recommended!

We ate here 3 times during our 4 days trip to Lisbon. The place is small, with an open kitchen and unfortunately it doesn't have a terrace. The food is spectaculous, and definetely best value for money. Staff really nice, all speaking english. If you make a visit I strongly recommend trying the Lagareiro Octopus (an entire octopus, garlic fried... More

We had the Bitoque (meat, egg, rice and fries) which was really fantastic! The place is very authentic and the price we had to pay was ridiculous low. Also located on a top location.

We didn't really understand what we were ordering but we either had really good luck or everything on the menu is amazing. The soft sheep cheese came with a spoon, not a knife, and was needed to spoon it on to your bread. I wish we could get it at home! I was a little nervous ordering their salted codfish... More

Me and my boyfriends were lost in the little streets of Barrio Alto and we found this place with an amazing sight of the castle at night, we decided to enter. The place was very small, you could see the cook cooking and you must stay sitted near other people, and it was nice because you could talk about your... More

The food was great! Generous portions and everything was under 12 euros! The best part was that they had homemade ginjinha which was delicious!!! I couldn't help but order more. It's a secret family recipe. I would highly recommend coming just for the cozy atmosphere and ginjinha.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
