Eating outside, at the esplanade, one of the several options of real austrian schnizel, among informal (mostly) foreigner customers is very pleasant. We ate Wurst Cow (€7,90) and Currywurst (€7,90), both delicious. A must go, to enjoy food and atmosphere.

Correct salades, correct dessert for informal breakfast, lunch or dinners. A place to informal people, young in the core of Chiado.

A comfortable, classy and welcoming place for an early dinner :) The Käsekrainer sausage with Wedges Fries is delicious and i STRONGLY recommend the Apfelstrudel with ice cream as a desert OR the Sachertorte.

You'll find it in Kaffeehaus; the original or with pork served with potato salad, very well seasoned. Ask for a glass of Riesling. The caffee is very cosy and offers newspaper and magazines readings to the clients. It as a small terrace open even in winter time. In downtow Lisbon, on a quiet but central street, it's worth going there.

I have been a regular here & love their wiener shnitzel , salads & sausages . Last visit , the chunky potatoes were dry & the sauce not good . The dressing on the potatoe salad without mayonais was bland & the potatoe salad with mayonais was soaked with mayonais & was uneaten . The place did not look clean... More

I was here for a Sunday brunch with friends and family. The place has a good environment and several tables outside (although we were late and couldn't get one). We tried two kinds of brunches and both of them were ok. The scrambled eggs (particularly the Mediterranean ones) are probably the best part of the meal, and the bread is... More

Although both the selection and the food itself are great, the main reason for me to spend time at Kaffeehaus is the amazing atmosphere of the spacious cafe and the music selection. Nevertheless I can highly recommend the "Heurigen Salat" and the delicious cheese cake. Almost needless to mention that the coffee is obviously very good too.

This a very nice place away from the touristic crowds. Very friendly staff (we were asked to move to make room for a bigger group and got a coffee offered to 'compensate'). The food is very good and the lemonade very refreshing! Try the salads and ask for a bowl of wedge potatoes, really delicious!

This is a special gem in Lisboa. The sausage and the spätzle were both delicious. I am not a big fan of German food so when I opened the menu I was a bit apprehensive. However the food and the service were both exceptional. Definitely the best meal that we had during this visit to Lisboa.

Nice quiet restaurant with simple Austrian dishes, well made. Is dog/pet friendly. The cauliflower soup is excellent!

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
