Jellyfish aquariums offer a rare and refreshing view. Black toilet paper??! Service could be a bit better for 5 stars . Smoking in the restaurant! And all the smoke goes to the dining room so the flavor of the dishes can not be appreciated.Upstairs there is no smoke because it is protected by glass.

The decor and location attracted us here on our first night in Lisbon. Our meal got off to a great start - friendly service, genuine help with the wine choices we made - even allowing tasters by the glass. The starters were amazing, i had the prawns and my wife the mushroom risotto - both as good as anything we... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel, Avenida Palace, because we wanted to eat fish, and we weren't let down. The waiting staff were well trained and looked after us very well and the choice of food was very good. Our food was very tasty and well cooked and presented very nicely and we really enjoyed our fish choices.... More

Good food. Fair pricing. Service could be a bit better. Forgot to put in one of our entree orders. Cool space with aquariums filled with jellyfish.

A fairly classy restaurant in a refitted 18th C building, retaining many original features, such as ceiling and brickwork. Good food at fair prices. A nice 2 course set menu for lunch at €18 is good value. A la carte menu has dishes in the €15-€25 range. Food is strong on fish and well presented with good ingredients. All staff... More

We stumbled into it and ended up having lovely experience. Limited vegetarian selection but Mushroom Risotto didn't let me down. Jelly fish keeps you in great company, :-)

We came here for dinner while visiting Lisbon. The restaurant was nicely decorated and there was a wall of fish tanks full of live jelly fishes. The service was excellent and we order a few seafood dishes which was fresh and well made, but not outstanding. It's quite expensive compared to other restaurants in Lisbon.

The restaurant decoration is very modern with a great environment. We asked for a quiet table which we got on the top floor with a view to downstairs tables. The meal was delicious and the time to serve was adequate during all dinner. We really liked the place and expect to come back soon.

Set within one of the most up-market and iconic areas in Lisbon – Largo do Teatro S. Carlos, Chiado – it is located within a building of the Lisbon Patriarchy, given that the main wing of the restaurant is part of the old cloisters of the Convento da Igreja dos Mártires. Chiado is one of the busiest and most cosmopolitan areas in the capital and is a compulsory stop.

Consisting of a main floor, across the building, and a mezzanine, the space features several distinct areas, a combination of architectural concepts absolutely unique.

One of the striking features in the creative design of the restaurant is a 30-metre wall with three panes of black glass encased within the wall. They contain three large aquaria, populated with dozens of jellyfish that create an original effect with movement of dance and light.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
