This is an old and famous coffee and cake shop, famous for it's typical Christmas cake named Bolo Rei (King Cake). You can choose self service table or table service.

This place has the charms of old days, but sits comfortably on it. I bought a box of "natas" on 5 occasions there. Some of them we're burned (not just the egg, but the shell as well) and on another occasion, the egg mixture was completely liquid.

Wifi not working and waiter did not even care about it, he messed up the order, lots of desserts were out of stock. I had higher expectations based on the name of this place

I was actually rose some 100m away from this place, so this is a lifetime review on a sentence. Memories from smells, aromas, glittering invitations, sparkling temptations were a part of the everyday commute to school. Mom not always felt for my pout face, but chances were good, as she had a bit of a sweet tooth as well. It... More

One of the oldest "confeitarias" in Lisbon. Great pastries. If you're on diet, don't you dare to enter!

Shop for sweets not to miss. Uncover the chocolate orange flakes on the counter in front of the entrance door. It's superb. Exquisite with excellent pastries, coffee and cacao. The decor of the store is beautiful. You can relax on the first floor.

Two cappuccinos, four really excellent pastries for 10 euro. What a deal! It's very crowded for breakfast, but they do have an upstairs area - ask if you can go up.

The place was few minutes walk from the hotel. We bought some cakes and cookies to eat at the hotel, and some to take back home. Everything was delicious, loved the Pasteis de Nata. The service at the counters is friendly.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
