I will always remember Padaria Nacional as the place where I ate the best kings cake ever, surrounded by a very decadent décor and views to Figueira square.

Poor coffee and the cakes were very sweet. The location is nice, but in total we were disappointed after reading so many positiv information.

We were told to drop in for cakes and tea, and despite its prominence (it even has outlets at the airport), their cakes are pretty average and so are their tea and coffee. Perhaps this is because it suffers from its success as it is always busy. This is just another "pastelaria" or pastry shop - lots in Lisbon.

We thank you immensely for the time you gave us to make your criticism, which helps us to improve. Our pastry is also our priority and the recipes are centennial, keeping the best of Portuguese cuisine. I hope you return to our space so we can give you a better experience! More

Have visited the Confeitaria three times. Twice this summer and once in December. There are things to like. The building is historic and it's beautiful inside. It's usually crowded and has a nice buzz. So, why the lower rating? Frankly, it's the pastries and also the servers. I've had some delectable pastries on my stops in Portugal. If you want... More

We thank you immensely for the time you gave us to make your criticism, which helps us to improve. Sometimes we have peaks of service and where really the staff may seem at fault, but we have our schedules due to them and we care a lot with our staff, and their happiness. Our pastry is also our priority and... More

We visited this place because from outside the pastries / bakeries there seemed of good quality and the interior of the place agreeable. It took forever to be served: the business is really understaffed considering the number of customers / tourists packed inside. What is more, service was sketchy and very, very stressful. As we waited for the waitress to... More

This is a famous old pastry shop in the heart of the tourist action on a main square and is therefore nearly always packed to the rafters If you need some space and some chill time you should probably look elsewhere Cakes are quite nice but don't make up for the manic busy atmosphere

This is an old place probably around 200 years old with good pastries and coffee for a breakfast or take a bite while you are in Lisbon center, our hotel was just a 100 meter away we visited for a breakfast, they have indoor and outdoor tables. The prices are pretty reasonable. So, must visit at least once.

This is an old and famous coffee and cake shop, famous for it's typical Christmas cake named Bolo Rei (King Cake). You can choose self service table or table service.

This place has the charms of old days, but sits comfortably on it. I bought a box of "natas" on 5 occasions there. Some of them we're burned (not just the egg, but the shell as well) and on another occasion, the egg mixture was completely liquid.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
