We stopped here to take a look and take some pictures while walking down the hill from Castelo de Sao Jorge. There are a couple cafes her and a few across the street. We just enjoyed the views

We picked the place to eat by mistake. Actually I thought it was a different place with good reviews on TripAdvisor. So I was really disappointed after, but then realized that it was a different place. Anyway. The location is really nice. There is a beautiful view from the restaurants terrace from one side and tram line with the Lisbon's... More

Very busy area with all the tourists taking photos, but down some steps you come to a small café which while busy was not as noisy as the viewpoint above.A good point to take photos and coffee is cheap at e2.00 A good viewpoint from which to take your photos

I went uphill by tram and the trip was very pleasant, I made a brief stop for coffee at Miradouro de Santa Luzia to take photos because of the nice view over looking the sea.

The view on the Tagus river and Alfama roofs is breathtaking. The problem is the presence of many people selling small bracelets or Senegal books or similar things. They do not leave you alone for a moment even if you tell them you are not interested in what they sell.

I am writing this review as I am eating my lame salad. My friend and I picked this place due to it's lovely location but it turned that neither the food nor the service is lovely. I was craving a salad but they only have 1) lettuce, 2)tomato, 3) Russian, 4) Kidney beans and 5) mixed. Yes, these are the... More

We chose this restaurant due to the location, close to where we live. After 1.5 hours nobody had been served. When some dishes came, there were very disapointing, dried and overcooked meat. Dried bread....After 2 hours we gave up, my husband never got his food, and the waiter just said "the kitchen forgot, is it ok?". Sorry but it's not,... More

We were so hungry at the time and the actually desired restaurant on the opposite site of the street closed after lunch time 14:00, no choice but to try this one cuz it got the nice view. However the food was only ok and it took nearly half an hour to cook. My pregnant wife was on the verge of... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
