I'm Celiac and had the most delicious meal....the fish is grilled with a bit of salt and the taste is out of this world....fresh fish, great wine and a fantastic service....all for a really really low price... Check it out, it's a must.

A very good surprise with this traditional restaurant, featuring many cod cooking. The waiter, may be the boss, was charming. We chose grilled cod, with potatoes, vegetables and oil and garlic. Very good. The waiter offer us a small plate of traditional brandade of cod. Wonderful. Very different from what we eat in France. This brandade contained eggs and slim... More

It's all about your expectations. This is a basic hole in the wall restaurant close to the market marina and police department in Lisbon. A friend from Los Angeles California researched this restaurant onTrip Advisor and it came with some high marks and comments.Eight Americans from California and Texas enter the back room with a reservation in an initially empty... We had lunch here after visiting the monastery. Carlos was a fantastic host. He was so welcoming and helped us pick out some incredible authentic local food. His up beat personality and sense of humor made it a great experience all around. We were taught the proper Portuguese way to eat sardines and which fish we should keep an eye... More

Visited this little local restaurant after our visit to the Monastery. Did not really expect too much especially after our not so good experience the night before (Food is salty and we thought it might be local taste buds). We were wondering whether the food are as salty as the ones we had and were quite apprehensive. And since this... More

It's one of the best places to go for a late lunch, after visiting Belem. You'll definitely find a table and enjoy the delicious, traditional food, along with a bottle of vinho verde. The staff was really nice and polite. Pleasant experience overall.

Really nice food, well prepared, with staff that care. An authentic, local, unpretentious place to enjoy seafoods and grilled chops. Also great grilled sardines!

Our group of 3 tried this place based on TripAdvisor reviews, as we wanted lunch before Pastels be Belem snacks and the Monastery tour nearby. Quality of seafood is fresh, but the cooking is average, e.g. grilled sardines were overdone and too salty, clams were better, but surprisingly the mixed grill was the tastiest dish we had. Also had a... More

The food was really good and the staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming! They also made us try some other food we were curious about which we thought was very nice. The food is not over complicated and does feel like you're having a good meal at home! Despite being in a tourist area, you don't feel like you are... More

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
