About
Jose Avillez looks at haute cuisine as a form of expression. At the Belcanto he shares his inspirations, emotions and concerns through his culinary representations and illusions. Each dish tells a story and sets out to stir the emotions of those willing to try it."

Not only is the food incredible along with amazing staff, but the presentation of each course was amazing. From service with white gloves, to inquiries of your preferences, to surprising us with a small birthday cake, and a trip to the kitchen to meet Chef...More

My sweetheart an I recently went to Spain and Portugal for fun and romance. While we were in Lisbon we decided to get a bite and quickly realized we were close to a Michelin star rated restaurant named Belcanto! We called 30 minutes before they...More

Been in many Michelin stars restaurants and was surprised (in a negative way) about the service and attention. Arrived at the restaurant with high expectations and was a deception at the end. First image that I had was the wear out shirts of the employees......More

This place is small and very hard to get a reservation, so plan accordingly. The staff was robotic and non-interactive, which seems to be the all or none approach at Michelin restaurants, either you get very friendly interactive service or non at all. The suckling...More

Everything was so perfect: amazing cuisine with traditional Portuguese dishes, amazing wine and great service! If u stay in Lisbon, have a dinner there. But book in advance cause the place is really small and usually fully booked.

This is one of the finest meals I've had anywhere in the world. The creativity of the kitchen, the pace of serving, the exquisite taste of each course - one was better than the next. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

All I can say is I am sorry TripAdvisor doesn’t have a sixth star to rate this amazing gem. All impeccable. Reception was correct although a bit detached. We selected the classic menu with the chef’s brilliant reinterpretation of classical Portuguese dishes. It was absolutely...More

No doubt, most "foodies" have heard about or experienced Jose Avillez's Belcanto in Lisbon, Portugal. We certainly had, along with its nearby neighbor "Alma" restaurant. It's hard to compare and contrast the two and that's not my desire. They are both "musts" to dine. Of...More
