We chose Tavares from guide books and newspaper articles, which turned out to be sadly out of date. We bought into "Lisbon's oldest restaurant", "young Portuguese chef", " Michelin star", "baroque interior" and also being being close by we thought we had a winner. We arrived at 20.30 and were a little surprised that only a few tables were occupied.... More

We went there with very good recommendations, reservation. We found an almost empty restaurant and ask for the menu de degustation. It is not worth the price. Service was the only good thing.

Visited the restaurant with my family in april 2017. The decor was impressive and very well preserved. Friendly staff. Food was only average. We took the "egg with truffle". Egg was ok; truffle... literally tree slices of truffle out a glass jar. Taken in account the prices, one could at least expect fresh truffle. Bread was warmed freezer bread. Main... More

Serving food since the 18 th Century is simply unique. The luxury architecture and the solicitude of the Maitre D'Hotel and of the waiters is simply amazing. Working with the best ingredients always fresh, this Restaurant is some kind forgotten by the new generation, however the place has some degustation Menus since 60 € which can satisfie the most of... Having been let down last minute on a booking for my husband's birthday, we found Tavares. We were 1 of only 2 tables seated at the time which was a real shame because it is that good it should have been rammed. The decor is very opulent and beautiful and the food matches this. We had some stunning wine and... More

We went to The Tavares for dinner, last December, 22. Some friends had given us mixed reviews about it and having tried to make a reservation for dinner at a previous trip and not succeeded, we made a reservation a long time before the date. We were surprised at seeing it was almost empty, with only four tables taken and... More

The place was amazing! The deco was fabulous with lots of details and very classy. The waiters are very knowledgeable and recommended great wine pairing options. The prices were a little high but all worthed it!

We had Christmas Eve dinner here and enjoyed the fantastic service, food, and wine pairings. The staff was very attentive and did a great job of explaining each course of the fixed menu. Although it is a pretty restaurant with history, it is very overpriced.

Tavares Rico is called the most impressive restaurant of the world, and it's in part true. The dining room is richly and lavishly decorated in gold and is full of mirrors like a French or Russian palace. Service is exquisite and you feel really an important person seating in the chair where some Hollywood actor, XX century statesman or Portuguese... More

It is undeniable the place is charming.. if you just walk on the street your eyes are catches by the "shiny super star" mirrors! Staff was good and willing to help. Food wasn't that incredible as was the bill instead.. so, the restaurant is good, maybe a little overrated..
