Called in here on our dog walk for a drink. Staff were very friendly. Food looked and smelt delicious...we will be returning for a meal in the very near future! They have a different deal on each day which is appealing. Not sure where the...More

Visited on a journey from the south to the midlands. I was looking forward to a nice break for Sunday lunch. What a disappointment. Starting with a dirty sticky table which should have rung alarm bells, but we stuck with it, literally . Ordered the...More

Surely the best chips I have ever eaten! Really crisp outside, soft inside, but no description can do them justice! The rest of the food was very good, but the chips were to die for! We must go back. The atmosphere in this characterful pub...More

This is our local. Has recently come under new management. As above. Landlord is very unwelcoming - seems to treat the place as his own residence first and as a place to serve customers second. Pub is in desperate need of a damn good clean...More

Dear Robert E, I am more than a little bemused by your comments and would like to clarify a few points. Firstly is this the right pub you are reviewing? All our locals know my wife & I by name, and we have been here...More

Great looking pub on the outside but poor lighting and tired looking on the inside. In fact I would go as far as saying it was rather grubby with horribly sticky tables. The staff were nice and friendly but the quality of food also let...More

Probably good to book at the weekend but we turned up on a weekday evening without a booking. The menu offers all the usual pub favourites and a few alternatives. To my mind a smaller choice usually means better cooking and I was not disappointed...More

Had a lovely lunch. Ordered fish and chips and sausage and mash. Both were superb. The batter on the fish was light and crispy and was excellently seasoned; the chips were great and the mushy peas were so sweet. As it was Friday, any fish...More

Recently went for dinner with friends and had a lovely night in the pub with great food and ambiance. The service was nice but the ambiance was quietly homely, so if that's what you're looking for this is the place.

First visit, Good food, good service and still retains that proper country pub atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.
