Four of us booked to have Dinner at this pub understanding it was under new management. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome to a busy, warm hostelry. We were seated in the dining area just behind and off the bar area to the front of the pub which wAs warm and the tabled nicely spaced so everyone... More

I visit The George regularly, both for personal & business meals & also just for the company & a decent drink!. You are always assured of a warm welcome, excellent service & tasty food at realist prices. The current management team, who are unfortunately leaving imminently, have worked hard to provide a great village local that caters to all people... More

Great place to stop and have a super pub lunch off the m40. This pub is only 1.5 miles away from junction 11 but so much better than the commercial places available the other side of the motorway nearer Banbury. Superb menu all year round, I've been three times now. Fish finger sandwich is excellent, scampi was really good as... More

Visited here today. Had lunch. Superb. My husband is vegetarian and usually his choices are fish and chips and a pasta dish. He was spoilt for choice today, there was as many veggie dishes as meat dishes. Very friendly staff. So cosy sitting by log fire. Only a few minutes from motorway. Definitely recommend. Will make sure we go back... More

Went here with my family, especially my amazing sister, whose birthday we were celebrating. As it was a Sunday it would be rude not to partake in gobbling down a good old - fashioned roast dinner. I had the veggie option - a cheese and spinach tartlet which was nice. My family had various meats which were nice and you... More

My wife and I visited to celebrate her return home and a belated birthday treat. We love the pub and the bar scene and have enjoyed the food previously but on this occasion I was very disappointed with the pie of the day which had a rather sour taste (too much horseradish?).

Good selection of beer and food, attentive service. I was a bit disappointed that the fish had finished on a Friday night (it was only 8pm). But my burger was excellent as were all the meals.

My daughters and I planned a surprise birthday lunch for my wife and I chose this venue as it's half way between Birmingham and Stokenchurch (in the Chilterns, south Bucks). It was a good choice as the food was excellent, the welcome and service exemplary and the setting picturesque. I had a pint of Everard's (Leicester brewed) ale (my first... More

Cosy traditional pub with homely menu befitting it's surroundings. The food was very cheap. I opted for a vegetarian bake which was really tasty. Great service. Parking was a bit of a pain to be honest but the pub was incredibly busy so as expected.

We live next door to a recently closed pub that's been deliberately run down to justify change of use and, luckily, the G & D is in the next village ...and it demonstrates how a properly run place can thrive despite the excuses for failure made by others. A fine old stone building with two more dining areas in addition... More

Description
A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.
