Food here is really good, but service is really poor. If you can put up with it, or laugh it off, you can have a really good meal. My Scabbard Fish, and partner's Steak were really good, with nice salad, and potatoes. Wine too was very good, and reasonable value. Service problems started the second we walked in, we were... Coming to Porto Santo in January you'll find quite a few of the better restaurants closed. On our search for good food we found Alencastre. Set in a attractive, carefully thought out garden setting this is a neat little restaurant. We had bolo de caco, tomato soup, espada with banana and espatada. All of this was formidable - absolutely delicious... More

Book in the afternoon, before they close at 3, don't walk in, and you'll be able to pick your table outside. Food is really good and a great selection, Espetada a must, and Lapas are really good too, (kids choice). Not lots of waiters and waitresses about, (usually only 2), but table service and not long waits. Usually really busy in... More

Regular visitors to this tucked- away charming little family restaurant accessed from a small entrance gate off the main beach road opposite Zarcos. SONIA welcomes you with a smile. The food is always reliable. A good atmosphere with background music.

5 people for dinner. We had mix meat plate, bacalao, seafood grill and steak with bacon. the steak was raw inside, we send it back but come out still raw, so we didn't eat it, the rest of the food was ok. the host was smiling and kindly. But when they didn't reflect that the meat wasn't cooked at all... More

When we arrived, we loved the surroundings and felt it was very authentic. Two of us had pepper steak, which came with a green pepper tomato based sauce. They didn't ask how we wanted it cooked and it was served medium and was very tasty. One had a shrimp and fish skewer that was large prawns and chunks of salmon... More
