We came to DOP on the back of a recommendation. We emailed in advance to ask about vegetarian food and the restaurant mentioned they would be able to cater. The starters and dessert were fine, but the main course felt as though there was no...More

There could not be a better restaurant in Porto. The food is perfect and served with flair, but not pretentious. We did not have a reservation and just rang the bell one morning on our way past - the sommelier opened the door and took...More

Lovely restaurant in a central location, with excellent service. She had the octopus carpaccio with pomegranate seeds, followed by the lobster and fish rice. The carpaccio was not like any octopus preparation we have had, and it was delicious; the pomegranate seeds went beautifully. The...More

We had a very enjoyable meal here sampling the delights of Portuguese food. Lovely atmosphere and great friendly staff. We had a set menu organised by our Tour Company and sometimes these menus can be disappointing but not this time we enjoyed every course.

Efficient staff. Essential to book. Ring Carla for a table. First class cuisine and service. In centre of city and a fine experience awaits you. 2 taster menus may seem expensive but are actually good value. Enjoy your visit.

We booked this from Australia several months beforehand on personal recommendation. We were not disappointed. Excellent space combining old and new, superb service, knowledgeable sommellier, interesting menu. We had the shrimp with Asian salad (superb), the fish soup (little fish taste, more a tomato soup),...More

This time Porto has changed - last time it was a quiet rainy January and few tourist. We tumbled upon Dop and had a wonderful evening. Five years later, I wonder if the quality is still good.... if the enthusiast sommelier is still there with...More

Depending on the time of the year and the week I would recommend making a reservation. When we visited in early May on a Friday night most tables were occupied.

Not sure if there is a kids' menu. But I would not recommend a restaurant like this with a child of five, given the stature of this restaurant. I really advise to check beforehand with the restaurant itself. You have to do... More

In the first quarter of 2010, Rui Paula returned to his homeland, OPorto, with the opening of the DOP restaurant. The new space is situated in the Palace of the Arts - Talent Factory, in Largo de S. Domingos in the historic city center, classified as World Heritage. This building is full of history. It began as the S. Domingos Convent and remained active since the fourteenth century, as a venue for auctions and council meetings. In 1834, served as the headquarters of the Lisbon (later Portugal Bank), and between 1934 and 1989 hosted the Douro Insurance Company. The Palace of Arts, now under the jurisdiction of the Youth Foundation, aims to "establish itself as a center of creativity and innovation of national and international excellence, professionally promoting young designers / artists, and be the dynamic center of the historic center as a cluster of arts and creative industries, enhancing its ability to attract creative professionals and tourism." The concept of the Palace of Arts fits perfectly in the Rui Paula project, who understands the gastronomy field as a creation with a strong cultural component. DOP has been designed to operate as a good taste, space cosmopolitan and yet familiar, and the generator of exciting dining experiences. The restaurant, with capacity for 65 people is provided with the latest equipment and has two distinct and complementary spaces: one show cooking, where the service is faster and more economical, and a traditional but innovative cuisine and dinning room.
