This place is popular. We ended up having to queue 30 to 40 minutes to get a table inside the restaurant. That said, the staff manage this process efficiently and allocate everyone a queue number. You can also order drinks while you wait.
Once inside, service is friendly and efficient. We didn't need to wait long for our order to be taken and the food served.
The cod skin chips were excellent. Really crunchy and served warm. I ordered a cod for my main, which was cooked perfectly and served with a few giant chips. My wife ordered the pork iberico. This was served with rice in a paella-like dish. The pork was well cooked but, to us, lacked a sauce to give the dish some more flavour, but this might be personal preference.

Restaurant on the riverfront walls, with few tables. It does not accept reservations. We celebrated my birthday and were offered a glass of port.

Discreet but efficient welcome, very pleasant location on the Douro, we recommend the cod steak with potatoes, just cooked, with a subtle yellow sauce. As for the French fries, an excellent surprise. This for a very reasonable price. Well done and thank you.

My wife and I had a nice meal here during our last visit to Porto, so decided to take friends while in town for a few days - big mistake!!
The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy but the standards of service were terrible, typified by waiting staff who are dis-interested and unfriendly.
Our meal was also very disappointing (slow to arrive and not a patch on last time we visited) and prices of food and wine are expensive compared with similar restaurants in central Porto.
We were left with the impression that a prime location and onset of tourist season have led to lower standards and poor service.
My conclusion - best avoided.

Restaurant on the riverside, slightly secluded from the busiest areas, with lovely views and atmosphere. It has few tables and does not accept reservations, so you have to have a little luck or be patient to wait (the surroundings are very pleasant, in any case, to cheat the wait). What a wonderful restaurant! On the recommendation of a friend, we went off to find Bacalhau (Portuguese for “cod” a staple of Portugal). It is not the easiest to find but well worth the effort. It is on a very narrow walkway above the Ribeira do Porto/Cais da Estiva to the north, named R. Muro dos Bacalhoeiros. There are several restaurants along this walk with tables both outside along the walkway, overlooking the river and then inside as well. Keep an eye out for the small overhead sign.
It is popular and does not take reservations, even mid-afternoon in September, it was packed but only about a 15–20-minute wait. Service was impeccable and started while we waited out on the walkway; we were brought a wine menu and after ordering (thinking it would be at our table) out came the staff with a wine bucket and three glasses for us to enjoy while looking out at the river, how civilized!
Everything we ate was delicious and superbly prepared. Most of the dishes are various cod preparations but there was also a chicken dish, ox tail and eggplant schnitzel. A nice wine list with predominately excellent local choices. Look forward to returning the next time we are in Porto.

Wonderful restaurant overlooking the Douro. They don't accept reservations in the evening, so I went by around 8pm and there was no room... But I didn't give up, and I came back a few hours later. They sat me at a table outside, right in front of the illuminated river.
Wonderful view, but never as much as the food. I ordered dourado cod with potatoes and onions, and cod skin chips: an absolute delight.
Courteous and knowledgeable staff, a more than honest bill given the location and the quality of the food. WELL DONE!

Pretty delicious food very unusual plates and an absolutely superb dessert. The waiter was incredibly helpful and friendly and we were very impressed by the beautiful view and spent a thoroughly enjoyable lunch time here. There are lots of restaurants in Porto but this one was the best that we tried

In most areas frequented by tourists, the restaurants are of middling quality, but not so for Bacalhau. The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the view was spectacular. Our party of 6 chose different entrees and compared. They were all excellent. Even though they do not do flights of port, the head server took the time to put together for us and explain the differences between the different types of port wine.

Intrigued by so many positive reviews, we wanted to try O Bacalhau along the Douro, near the Church of Sao Francisco. The location is fantastic but the tables are few and to be able to dine outside along the wall in August requires a great stroke of luck because they don't take reservations. We ate inside and were still extremely satisfied. We had cheese with persimmon compote, walnuts and grapes and cod stew with chickpeas as a starter and bacalhau dorado with onion and potato millefeuille as a main course. The cod was excellent and the potato millefeuille (first baked and then lightly fried) was amazing. Ice cream-based dessert with caramelized fig. Price more than fair. Strongly recommended.

Lovely riverside restaurant serving great innovative food. Bonus points for letting you wait for your table whilst leaning on the wall overlooking the Duoro with a bottle of cold wine ! A long, relaxing lunch overlooking Porto river. Enjoyed the sea bass fillet and my friend raved about her almond crusted cod fillet and prawns. I tasted the prawns. Devine! Make sure you try the 5 euro tawny wine! The waiters genuinely wanted to ensure the experience was outstanding.

Very helpful staff and exceptional meals. Discover new flavors in a pleasant setting along the Douro. For new flavors, absolutely test the "Bacalhau raw marinade com citrinos" and the "Lombo de bacalhau com tripas" and finally a "Baba de camelo".

I found between websites and it was a hit. We sat on the terrace for lorzas that the food was amazing especially the golden cod and the views are super nice of the Douro River. It is a small and quiet terrace although you only have two shaded tables. I recommend going at 12:00 to take place that there are no people and it is not full the terrace and Iara one or so have brought us food and super well. The whole letter looked very good, I also recommend the Iberian verse. And the deal with the waiters has been 10/10.
