This restaurant sits on a quiet corner with seating for 12 outside and 32 inside.
Two waiters handle it all. One with a ponytail man bun and one with glasses. Both were great.
We walked in without a reservation because it was early. 8 pm and off season.
But you should make a reservation.
Cards accepted and our total including tap = $38 USD.

My opinion is mixed on this restaurant.
Positives: The food is good and we were served quickly once the order was placed.
The chocolate cake and bolo de bolacha are delicious.
Negative points: extremely long wait to get a table. If you want to eat there, make a reservation otherwise you may have a 30 minute or even 1 hour wait.
The waitresses are not very pleasant and smiling. One of them passed by us several times and did not serve us. The owner who speaks French must have made the comment to the waitresses to come see us. The less smiling one called her colleague to come and take care of us.
Fortunately the meal brings up the bill.

By indication of a friend I came to try the Taberna de Santo António.
Even though there is no markup and there is still a significant queue, they informed that there would be a table in 20 minutes.
We tasted the famous "coral beets" while we waited... Hot and just made. And at the end of the 20 minutes we were being called to sit down.
We decided to opt for jamnil. It didn’t take long to arrive and it was very good!!!
I was still curious about a steamed calf that was on the next table and was widely praised by the customer who was eating it.

A very nice address that we recommend to everyone passing through Porto! A very small menu that promises local, quality products at very attractive prices. The decor is great. The dishes are excellent and plentiful. And what about the chef who goes to each table to make sure everything is going well, speaking to you in excellent French to boot? It's honestly super pleasant. A big thank you from all of us and a special thank you from our daughter who was kindly offered another less spicy dish even though she had already started the initial dish... Kindness, warm welcome and delicious food, nothing to add more ☺️

Best authentic Taberna restaurant in Porto. Taberna Antonio masters about 10 dishes and desserts, with an extensive wine list. The owner manager Pedro is quite funny and very attentive to his guests,and his staff are also very attentive. We had the octopus rice and the veal stews, both delicious, with a local Vinho verde, which we liked so much we bought a bottle for home. You can sit outside but we thought inside rooom was full of ambiance with the musical instruments on the wall that Pedro’s father once played. This place is not to be missed! Book ahead!

Unfortunately not a good experience for us despite the warm recommendation. We wanted to eat authentic Portuguese food and it is such an occasion but with the following caveats; the menu is not extensive and you have to love it. The pork was well prepared in itself but you have to love the beak and structure. The side dishes were not fresh or tasty in our view. The place itself is not very clean. There were a lot of flies and the walls were greasy. The staff was friendly but due to the large crowds very quick to pick up and operate. We were outside in an hour. And where the experience for us went to an F was when we wanted to pay we were told we could only pay cash. The owner was quite blunt about that because there were a number of ‘signs’ in the store that we should have seen. I don't know what the balance of this has been. when we had trouble with pins he still wanted to try the pin device and then it just worked as it should. We Italians are second to none for the cuisine and for this reason maybe a little spoiled... but stay away from this restaurant. Two dishes ordered: baked pork which consisted of two pieces of dried pork (gum arabic) and four pieces of their sausages all laid on a plate of potatoes not even warm but lukewarm. Second course an arroz de marisco, a kind of our risotto alla pescatora turned out to be a tasteless broth with boiled rice. Prices then are standardized to normal restaurants much nicer and higher cuisine than this trattoria... codfish plate 20 euros, so go elsewhere where you spend equal and eat better.

We didn't have a reservation-mea culpa. We requested a table for 4, purchased a round of house port and waited under an umbrella outside with hopes for a no-show. We were lucky and can honestly say this was the best meal we've had in Portugal-Lisbon 5 days and our second night in Porto. We tasted the veal stew, ham shank, octopus rice and bacalhau, with a waiter-recommended bottle of red. We also had creme brulee, chocolate mousse and chocolate cake. It was a local vibe with mother-owner and son-appeared to be manager, very visible. Our waiter was delightful but not intrusive. We wish him the best in Manhattan with his girlfriend. We stumbled across this place, hungry, thirsty and tired. Place was packed, but the waiter was very friendly and kept his cool. The food was good. He even took some extra time to recommend us the truly delicious chocolate cake and change our seats because the little one was getting a sunburn. 10/10

Told us to wait 10min, then proceeded to pass two couples that arrived after us ( without reservation ). After 5 days in Porto, here we received the worst service. When they brought the entrants they didnt't bring cutlery and when asked responded in a bad tone 'yes yes it's coming'. Asked for one big water and brought 2 little ones. They also brought the wrong main dish ( more expensive ) and charged full price. Their dataphone was 'broken' ( showed me pressing some buttons ) and told us to go get cash. Could have warned us beforehand. The dishes were small and the francesinha sauce had poor taste. The sausage was good.

A most delightful family run business. The Taberna was one of our highlights of Porto, a great start to a holiday. The food was fresh and authentic, the staff attentive with a great sense of humour.

We visited because of excellent online reviews & were mind-blown — as good as the reviews were, they did not do justice to such a superb restaurant and experience. This is a family run restaurant, & the whole family went all-out to give everyone in the restaurant the best food and the best experience. Our waiter was friendly & knowledgeable & outgoing. We were given free starters, baccalaureate & rissoles, which were excellent. For mains my wife had sole with spicy bread sauce & I had veal mince with rice and chilli. Both were excellent, & helpings were generous. We had a great wine, which was recommended by our waiter. His recommendation was excellent, & he insisted that we should taste the wine, & if we did not like it, he would give us another one. We ordered their grappa which was superb, & they gave us free port which was excellent. Several family members came to check on us & enquired about the food. The food and family ensured that we had an unbelievable experience.

There were eight of us and we chose the seafood dish for 13 euros! Overall, everyone was disappointed by this very spicy dish with very little seafood: 1 shrimp/person, a few mussels and clams, part of which was closed and not edible, and tasteless surimi. To avoid. Excellent place to try local food, there were a lot of people and they offered us dinner at the bar, there we were served by a very nice person who suggested what to try as well as talking about the food and the city. We ordered rice with duck, as well as a dessert. Highly recommended.
