The first time I came to the restaurant was a very pleasant experience. Food has variety (meat, fish, sea food). Food is great, good taste. Price vs quality ok. At the end I had a piece of pie and appetitive on the house The second time the experience was different. Food god as always but our waiter were not so interested... More

Although Adrianou road is rather noisy specially during July and August the view of Acropolis makes you feel calm and helps you travel mindly in the past. Food is very nice the service also good and I believe its one of the places for ideal brake down.

After walking down Adrianou and being called at to try every restaurant, it was refreshing to be greeted with "hi". They were more than happy for us to just have a drink and even gave us a small complimentary bottle of their homemade red wine with raki and honey (Rakomelo). We went back the next night and they recognised us... More

We walked the strip twice before deciding on this restaurant mainly because it wasn't too busy but still had people there and we were tired of being accosted by every other restaurant as we walked past. On a superficial level this place was great...local food, friendly staff, comfy seats, reasonable prices and a surprise complimentary dessert (which was delicious). But... More

We came across the restaurant walking along the rail track getting a distant view of the Acropolis. We were only thinking of only drinking beer while enjoying the view, but later decided to get the large seafood mix dish for four. The pitcher of beer was really tasty (Alfa, local), and there is a lot of calamaris in the dish.... More

Diodos is one of the best restaurant in adrianou street. Very good quality/ price. Very nice staff, very helpful and kind. Excellent food, very tasty and fresh. I recommend "kotsi " it's pork and it's cooked very slowly. In other termes it melts in your mouth.

Great service, amazing food! Had pita bread with meat, my other half had a green salad. Both were delicious. Staff was nice and spoke english. Only thing we didn't like were the stray cats at our table :(

I came here one evening and watched the sun set over the acropolis as I ate some delicious Greek food. I had a great Greek salad, Mousaka, and grilled bread. Fantastic!

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
