We went there after the classic marathon and it was packed. We sat on pillows at the stairs. The place is crowded all the time but there you can take a look of old athens, traditional houses at plaza and great ancient monuments, view of the acropolis too. The coffee was nice too. The place is a must.

The style, decoration, atmosphere of this place are totally different from common coffee places. One of the most beautiful and crowded coffee places in that area. Prices are quite good and i totally recommend it especially for those who like alternative places(even if it's quite touristic)

The location of the restaurant itself is quite hard to locate and find without a GPS. The concept and design of the restaurant is quite unique as the restaurant is by the stairs beside the walkway towards uphill where the guest eat and sit on the stairs with stool as a table and cushion to sit on. A great greek... More

This is a popular place with the tourists. We saw a lot of people sitting here on the steps with cups of coffee and drinks and smoking as well. The cafe has some great desserts and is a cool place to just go hangout for a bit. We went around dusk and stayed on for a while. Would highly recommend... More

In spite of the waiter being rather short with us for no apparent reason, this restaurant/cafe is so so beautiful there's no way I could rate it negatively, no amount of rudeness can justify being snotty about this beautiful spot. It is set in gorgeous steps with an akropolian background and an equally stunning interior set in what looks like... More

Great spot to grab a snack, drink and people watch. We stopped here on our first night in Athens and it was a great way to set the vibe for the entire trip. It was crowded but we were lucky to find a nice spot and take in all the great vibes.

A wonderful authentic cafe. Food is fresh and home made, the athmosphere casual and nice. The service is a bit slow but I did not mind as there was plenty of people and food watching! Many locals and fewer tourists, all in all excellent authentic greek restaurant with very resonable prices.

A pretty plant filled cafe over a series of floors, full of steps. We had a slice of chocolate cake that my children devoured (5€) and a slice of spinach pie (5€) which was fabulous. They went as far as making their own filo pastry for it. Super friendly service and such a nice space.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
