Food was great and the friendliness of these guys is superb. We were also grateful for the help they gave us when our hotel turned out to be closed and we had to find another place to stay. They made our time in Athens very special.

Went here on our first night in Athens. my husband and daughter wanted to eat pizza so we walked round the Plaka area and cake across this little square of restaurants. They all looked good but this one looked the best for pizza. We sat outside which was just warm enough for early evening in February with jackets on. The... More

Good traditional food, with a nice menu. The value was very good, with the carafe of house wine good value. The portion size was good too. Service was friendly and the surroundings were comfy. Popular with locals, which seems to be a good sign.

Both the pizza margherita and the pizza pepperoni were average at best. Interior is in dire need of redecoration.

In plaka amongst the many restaurants there lies a jewel to be found.. I think in my recent past this is one of the best moussaka I have eaten in peace. The house wine is super smooth... He staff is friendly and the outdoor seating is good.. Also there is free wifi

The food was very good, especially the traditional one; the serving is a bit slow but we were outside maybe that's why.

Right in the middle of the Plaka District, the Plaka Taverna has surprisingly good food. The Spanikopita is among the best I've found in the area, and the lamb and pork roasts, prepared family Greek style is really tasty and filling. Prices were very reasonable, service was excellent, once you get past the sidewalkway hustling, and also have some very... More

Established in 1972, Trattoria Restaurant has served as a cornerstone of the historic center of Athens, and arguably its heart, Plaka. Tucked away in the picturesque square Filomousos Eteria, it has served for many years, focusing on high quality ingredients in traditional Mediterranean dishes with a predominant feeling for the Italian and Greek cuisine. Service and hospitality, retain a key ingredient to our success and are the reason for staying in business all these years, with customers who visit us again and again.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
