After a tour of the Acropolis museum, we decided to grab some lunch. Walking down the main drag can be overwhelming - there are lots of aggressive hosts trying to tempt you inside at all the restaurants - but I decided to trust TripAdvisor and...More

A family owned and run taverna behind the "new" Acropolis museum. Six tables inside and a few outside. Excellent fresh daily made entrees. Step to the counter and they will tell you about what they have made. Great for vegetarians or meat lovers. They always...More

The menu is very small with only a couple main items but it's amazing. They have the food in the front so you can look at it and choose what you want. All homemade and cooked fresh, very traditional and delicious. I had the lamb...More

Family location that we found down the street from all the other restaurants. You could smell the food before actually seeing the restaurant. Everything is grilled or already prepared for lunch and dinner so it didn't take long at all. It was a perfect find...More

In a very touristy area this is a simple genuinely family restaurant, with straightforward but very well-prepared food. Excellent grilled meat and fish, nice stuff roasting on the spit, excellent vegetables (especially delicious imam).

Very close to the Acropolis and our hotel. The owner was very friendly and the food tasted like home-cooked. Traditional Greek choices and very good prices. Highly recommend.

Everything here is good; try the horta (greens), olives & house wine (everything really). They packed us a picnic dinner to have up at Mt Likavitos one evening; it was lovely. Went back several times.

Was running around town when I noticed this small restaurant. Seemed like lots of locals were eating and decided to step. Guess it must have been the owner or at least the person cared so much to get us seated and recommend. Ensured that we...More

Our first visit was in 2013, then again in 2014. Our July 17 visit was just as impressive. We are fans of healthy home cooked food and To Kati Allo serves up just this, at great prices with a warm welcome. We had a great...More

We are a family of 5 and I am Greek so I could tell one thing or two on what traditional Greek food should taste like. This was quite good traditional food I use to eat. The nice thing is that he brought some plates...More

Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient
temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small
wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer
numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely
pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between
the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth
climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges
with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the
