The concierge at our boutique hotel recommended this place as a trad, off-beat dining spot. We opted for the cellar and settled in. It was still early (well 9 or 10 but still no music) and we started off with the Fried Feta with Honey/Sesame Seeds which floored my wife. She couldn't get enough. She tried to make it from... More

We spent a week in Athens, eating at the restaurant everyday and this place is THE place where we have been with the most friendly waiters. The place is very cute, authentic and you get great Greek food for <9 euros. It also has a cute backyard, very quiet and peaceful. The waiter saw we were taking a look to... More

We randomly found this spot. The service is excellent and the food is super delicious! On our last evening in Athens we decided to come back to this place and we're not dissapointed. My husband is meat-eater eater and I prefer fish. Both evenings - perfect. Starters are yummy too! We recommend!

We were approached on the street as we were looking for a restaurant for dinner and we didn't regret it one bit: we dinned in their beautiful, quiet and charming garden court. The service was exquisite, very friendly and warm. The food was excellent (we ordered every fish dishes in the menu) succulent really. Everything contributed to a delightful evening... More

We were recommended this place by a blog, it turned out to be 150m from our hotel. We took an authentic Greek cooking class the night before and saw many of the dishes we created. I had the lamb shank and it was very good but the roasted potatoes were incredible. We also got the fried cheese and spicy pork... More

I had the moussaka and it was excellent. The service was good and there was a band playing. I certainly recommend this restaurant.

We had a wonderful dinner at Oinopoleio. It was recommended at our hotel and was a short 5-10 minute walk to a neighborhood that we had not been in. The food was quite tasty and they serve large portions, which is a plus minus. It was a comfortable place with prices much cheaper than the tourist spots. Definitely an option... More

The only redeeming quality this place has is the fact that they did not argue when we stated that we would not be paying for the two inedible meals out of the four we ordered. The meatballs that my friend ordered were charcoal on the outside and raw in the middle and the "lamb shank" that her husband ordered was... More

When you get in you wellcome by Demosthenes. A tall man, not really slim, with a big black beard and a long tongue... He is a very nice man. We where seated near a loyal customer. Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
