We visited this taverna on the recommendation of friends who are regular visitors when in Athens. We were not disappointed. We chose the lamb chops which seem to the signature dish. They were delicious. It is a very traditional taverna frequented by Greeks so you know it will be good. Probably not a good choice if you are vegetarian!

This is an eternal taverna in Athens. It's been there for ever. Next to Thission station and across St Antony's church. It's the place to eat lamb chops in Athens. Rich in taste and aroma. Keep it simple: the chops a Greek salad and fava beans. Divine. Downed them with cold beer or home red wine. Unfailing. And Elias is... More

We went after a personal recommendation from our bouzouki player's luthier. The restaurant has two sites on the same road, separated by about a quarter mile. We walked away from town, straight by the first, where you dine in a garden, and ate at the second, where you dine on the street. The place looked like a quiet and slightly... More

We had a delicious dinner here! The waiters were very friendly and helpful, and the food was so cheap we were able to try just about everything! The lamb chops and tatziki were both out of this world! Dinner for 2 (mezze and then lamb chops with a beer each) came to 33 euros.

I have read great review but was a bit dessapointed. The meat was good but to cooked. I felt part of the greek as there were no tourists and mainly locals. The service was a bit long

It used to be one of the best places in Athens for lamb chops. Nowadays unfortunately just a bad cafeteria with fat meat and terrible service. We had to wait for one hour between the starters and the main course... Never again !

After arriving to our hotel we wanted something close traditional with good reviews and Trip Advisor gave us this little tavern. The menu is basic but was great. We decided to try the lamb chops as its meant to be what they are mostly renowned for. We also ordered chips and greek salad tatziki to have with our lamb. Even... More

We ate at this restaurant twice, once in each location. We couldn't believe the food, so fresh, so tasty. We had the kilo of lamb chops, the fried potatoes, the horta (wild greens) and the Greek salad. It was all perfect. Don't miss this restaurant, the setting is so peaceful and not in a super-touristy area.

We discovered To Steki tou Ilia while searching for the “best lamb shops in Athens” on TripAdvisor. My wife and I were looking for a romantic spot for a special celebration. When we asked some Athenians about it, they said it was an insider place with mostly locals, including a lot of families. A little off the beaten path from... More
