We have been several times to Mama Roux, either for lunch or diner, with friends or as a couple and we enjoyed it every single time. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the colorful decoration very warm and interesting, and the music very pleasant and discreet. The service is quite fast and very polite and the servings are generous and filling.... More

Went here looking for a good American style breakfast. The breakfast menu is limited--you can either get a combo breakfast with coffee, orange juice, eggs, yoghurt, and a bagel, or pancakes. Or you can fork out the cash and buy both. The amount of food for both is enough for one hungry person but it would come out at about... More

We had lunch at Mama Roux in Monastiraki in mid November. We were able to eat outside, on their sheltered terrace and when we asked to have a bit of heat, our server was very quick to respond. The food was excellent, prepared in an innovative way and well presented. The prices were very reasonable and the service was friendly... More

We booked in the morning a table for 2 for Sunday Brunch. When we reached our reservation was near to the open door as a result of freezing without any option of another table. Also, we were informed that we had only 1 hour to sit. That's why we left. They should enhance the management of reservations.

The location is very convenient by foot and is in the center of the city with many places and shops close to it. Brunch is always excellent ( packakes, aggs, bagels etc). Coffee is mediocre. The decoration is very alternative, personally I am not a big fan. The service is ok ish they are not very experienced, not too eager... More

Excellent flavors We tried Bulgogi corean beef, tandoori chiken , falafel, houmous and moutabal . Everything was great. WE also tried a beer from Santorini: the yellow donkey which was yammy...A bit overpriced indeed.

Thank Maria G

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
