The restaurant staff is very friendly, and they will customize your order if you want. The fish and meat are tasty, but the potatoes are something special. They apparently come from the Greek island Naxos - not to be confused with nachos - and the fries are delicious. Fish Cafe is worth a stop when in Athens.

Part of the Athens Studios family, Fish Cafe offers cheap but super tasty meals: nice breakfasts (yoghurt!), burgers and, of course, fish and chips. Plus drinks from the neighbouring Sports Bar.

We had dinner in Fish Cafe on our last day in Athens. The staff was friendly and helpful. My husband was not very well that evening and the waitress offered to get the food delivered if we are staying nearby. Very few fish items, try Prawn and Chips.. portion was huge and fish was great...

We decided to try the place after reading reviews on trip advisor and were astonished at the quality of food and the staff. We decided to order the Pawns and Chips, when we tried to pay we where told to take a sit and pay later, by the way this place is a hole in the wall place. After we... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
