This restaurant is good value for the location near the Ancient Agora. Service was swift and staff were friendly. The Greek salad was certainly of a good standard and plenty of it in the large portion for two. Nice atmosphere on a sunny day eating outside. To be recommended.

Unfriendly, not English speaking staff. Bad quality food compared to the prices. Shrimps were burned when they were finally served after waiting for half an hour after we finished the other dishes. Breakfast not available. Nice location and music but definately not recommended.

This café restaurant is one of the numerous in the area along Andrianou Street which happens to be a very popular spot in Athens. The street lies next to the subway of Thiseio and Monastiraki and it overlooks the Acropolis. I was to meet a foreign friend who suggested that we meet here so I was here only for a... More

My profession is script writer, but I find myself without words when looking for a way to tell everybody how terrible this restaurant is. The food i've eaten in this place was the worst in Greece. The "traditional moussaka" they serve in this place is a throw up dish like no other, nothing then flour and oil. All food was... More

A good place but not better than average. Nice to eat with the buzuki in the background. But, do not expect the ultimative greek plate

The food was as good as most Plaka cafes offer. Service was above average. But Mouses has music (at least through the early afternoon hours). The bouzouki/guitar rembetika duo were quite good. I'd gladly return.

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
