Got here for a late lunch, after a tour to the Acropolis: our guide recommended this cozy restaurant with view over the city (some indoor tables do not have view though). We ordered some appetizers and two salads, one Greek with delicious feta cheese and the other with marinated seafood ... yummy! We also ordered some nice white wine. Do... More

Definitely the best fish in down town Athens and one of the best in Greece. The restaurant is located in one of the best spots in Plaka. They have big selection in the menu and everything is very good, tasty with excellent quality. 5 stars service, polite, knowledgeable and experienced staff. If you are in Athens you must visit this... More

A typical Greek cuisine restaurant in the best place of the old town Plaka. Recommend to reserve a table either in the balcony or in the outer stair way. The food quality is excellent , the service very good and the elides decent. It is recommended during the summer period when you can enjoy the outdoor sitting.

A great place to enjoy traditional Greek food and atmosphere. Located Northeast below the Acropolis along the pedestrian walkway and steps. Had the best Greek lentil soup ever. The large serving of Moussaka was quite tasty as well.

Me and my boyfriend had a lunch there on the last day of our trip. A. It hidden from the main Plaka streets was not that full of tourists. Nice interiors with a fire place. They did not have some dishes I wanted to try which surprised me considering I chose from "traditional greek" sections - you should always have... More

This came recommended by the Hotel concierge and while it was a bit tricky getting to the spot in a vehicle, we finally and thankfully managed to get there. It was well worth the effort. The food was authentic and delicious and the staff was very hospitable and helpful. It was too cold to sit outdoors, but in warmer weather,... More

In the romantic district of Plaka, with a very sympatic and friendly service, simple and great atmosphere, you receive a bottle of water, a good cold wine first, bread and delicious mezes, ambiance as in the old time in a village, every one knows the owner very good and all are very satisfied.

The restaurant itself is what I'd describe as traditional and quaint with some interesting decoration to gaze upon. Service is attentive, but not overbearing, and food was excellent, meat tender and the quantity plentiful. They even have live music at dinner time. The service was perfect. Best Greek food I have ever had. Thank you for this magic moment full... More

This is really three restaurants in one, all of which have the same menu (but located in different neighboring buildings). The food is classic Greek / Turkish / Ottoman. The best part is probably the live music. On the night we went there, there was a guitarist and a bouzuki player, playing classical Greek and Turkish songs (Greeks and Turks... More

This used to be my first GO-TO restaurant in Athens and this last week I couldnt have been more disappointed. The fava was tasteless. The stuffed octopus was so tuff I could barely cut it. The service was mediocre at best. Sad day to fall out of love with an old favorite.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
