It is always the same crowded with people they want to be seen. They have not spent a penny the last 20 years and the set up is really uncomfortable and the tables very small with uncomfortable chairs. The table you get is 40 % smaller than you actually need and unless you get tipsy is impossible to bear it... More

The first time i went to Ratka was in 1985! That is now 22 years ago and this place is still going on. With its unmatched quality of food and service this bar restaurant remains one of the best pleaces to go out in Athens. If you sit on a table or at the bar you will experience the one... More

Elegant yet casual restaurant in Kolonaki. Rather crowded, but the staff keep up. A good selection of wines, and a varied menu.

It's classic, elegant but also extremely hard to find a normal table and not at the back of the room next to the bathroom. Its the all time "must know/be someone". However, it has a very nice bistro atmosphere and the food is delicious. The one that is french cousin related. Pasta etc. is nothing extravagant. If your pocket affords... More

I first came here as a teenager. Almost 25 years later Ratka has managed to maintain its reputation as a solid choice in downtown Athens (Kolonaki area more specifically). Situated in a tiny street, this bistro has been a meeting point for business and entertainment personas for decades. The food is very good, both quality and taste wise. The tables... More

Same top quality sonic it opened many decades ago. Excellent food. The elegant owner supervises daily all the tables. The tables are small but this is the philosophy of the place. Some times it becomes crowded. Nice people frequent.

Ratka is a very well known restaurant for Athenians and by all means a special place to go to. For me the crispy duck it's one of the best dishes of the place. The service although it's every night full it's very good and the waiters very friendly. A little noisy but the whole ambiance makes Ratka special. Most importantly... More

Everything the best by far from the rest! Ratka, the owner, is always there, in order to supervise herself the whole operation, asking her guests if they have any complains. Many times, to the very faithful guests, she is offering the deserts.

The atmosphere is unique, and the crowd is very interesting. It is a posh place for the upper society of Athens, and you can meet from politicians to singers. The food is of very good quality ( from sushi to bon filet and carpaccios) but make sure you book in advance.

This is not really a restaurant but a hangout place that serves food. The fillet stake with satay sause was in fact pieces of bad pieces of beef, with some ready made sause and dried noodles that could come out straight out of a packet. The beed tasted so bad that I had to return it, I must say they... More

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighbourhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
