We went "by the book" and considered reviews and blog suggestions and chose this place, farther away from the main port, where all the tourists gather. Even so, there were many tables occupied by tourists. Service is ok, quite impersonal. We had dakos, some lamb with creamy cheese, fennel pies, home-made bread. Everything good, can't complain. Bill a bit on... More

Great food, great raki, a wonderful place for our last night in Chania. The only drawback--several guidebooks recommend it (and rightfully so), so there are more Americans there than at other local places. Hardly a problem, of course.

Very homely place - mainly focused on meat. And if you are a meat-lover, this is a must visit. The lamb and pork dishes are mouth watering. You won't need a knife - it's so soft!

One of the best places that we have been to on the island when it comes to food. Goat, local wine, big portions, tasty.

For EUR 22 10% service included, I had a wonderful experience at Chrisostomos: - 5 deliciously roasted on charcoal lamb chops from Crete with French fries and rice, staminagati (local wild salad), quarter liter average Cabernet wine from Chania, 4 fried donuts with sesame, honey and raki. - the service was outstanding and very professional! - now, mark my words,... The wind was really whipping up and rain descending when we managed to find shelter in this restaurant. We really enjoyed our dinner, there was a nice local ambience (not a touristy vibe), and the atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant.

We arrived in a rainy windswept evening and the minute we walked in we felt welcome and cosy. A really busy restaurant packed with local people - a good sign that we were in an excellent restaurant. Great food featuring dishes baked in their wood fired oven, lovely home made bread all polished off with excellent service. A lovely experience... More
