Great food, lovely surroundings and atmosphere. Really good selection of meat to choose between. One of the best restaurants visited on a 2 week holiday around Greek islands.

A great experience that we will remember for a long time. This is a very good restaurant. Both the lamb and beef steak were fresh and superbly cooked to our liking. Well flavoured and delicious food. Worth every penny. A lovely evening in a trendy...More

We had the snails the Cretan salad the staffed chicken and the picanha. Snails and chicken were really delicious. Salad was very good as well but the steak was almost a disaster. Twice I had to take out of my mouth pieces full of nerves...More

Went there this evening, food and service excellent. More up market compared to other restaurants around. The feta with cereal crumb, honey and fig jam was gorgeous. The meal for two with starters and main was 50 euros

We had the restaurant recommended by our hotel, and it was a pleasant experience. After eating in several places around the area, all the food seems to be pretty similar, so we didn't get particularly disappointed with what was on offer here. The one bonus...More

One of the best in the corner. Good quality and local ingredients. Cretan cuisine with a twist of freshness. Everything was exquisite. We came back for our last dinner.

The restaurant is very nicely presented but it's very dark and even with the candles, you may want to bring along a head torch. I shared a mushroom starter with my wife which was pleasant enough. For the main course, I had the lamb shank...More

Alana Fresh food straight from the market. Specializing in grilled meat and Cretan cuisineThe restaurant's name derives from the old times. Alana was a place that kids of all the neighbourhood used to join together and play. It was first established in 1986 at the heart of the old town of Rethymno in Salaminos street , the central street under the castle of Fortezza and used to be one of the first tavernas in the area. With 200 seats it was the most crowdy place of the old town. In 2002 under new management, the place transformed to a more relaxing restaurant with 100 seats based on good quality products, attendive service and reasonable prices. Alana made a new beginning, changing totally the style of the restaurant, serving unique dishes of traditional fare in a relaxing setting full of flowers creating the perfect backdrop for a dining experience highlighted by inspired cuisine and impeccable service. The restaurant has attracted both tourists and local people drawn to the superb food, charm and hospitality of its owners. The restaurant serves healthy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, using products sourced locally, cooked with care and it has been established as one of the best restaurants in town, based on the customers’ reviews. The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites like lamb with artichokes, Cretan smoked pork “apaki” and stuffed vine leaves, chargrilled steaks and beef burgers, grilled vegetables with feta cheese and oregano, wild greens with tomato, garlic and potatoes. Unique home made deserts are also offered.
