This place was recommended by the front desk at our hotel. The staff was very polite and attentive. The meals we had were somewhat boring, but I think that is because we really dont like fish which is a pretty big staple in danish food, so we were somewhat limited in our menu choices. I suspect a more adventurous eater... More

The food was very good despite my complete distraction by the lovely Ea (my waitress) <G> Located on Helgolandsgade; a small, one-lane street which I mistook for an alley. The Best Western next door has a more-obvious (colorful) sign to help find the Frk. Barners Kaelder. The décor is old-school tavern with brick, wood and hazy lighting. The hanging light... More

Service was very good as was the food. We had Patty Shells and Herrings as starters, Calves Liver and Pork Stew as the mains. All very tasty. Prices very much in line with other Copenhagen restaurants.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good meal here, and I wonder if the other people reviewing it have tried some other restaurants in Copenhagen to compare. The food is overpriced for what you get-- a fairly uninteresting selection of beers; herring that was a bit tough and not tender; and fish dishes that are cooked in a dull, unimaginative way.... We wanted some warming traditional food after a full day out in the February fresh air. We weren't disappointed. The decor is dark and old fashioned (in a good way). The staff are wonderful, cheerful and friendly but not in your face. Our meals (pork and bacon stew, roast beef and veal shank) were all equally delicious. Tender meat, juicy... More

This place was recommended by our hotel as authentic and resonably priced and so it is. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and although not cheap it wasn't too expensive either. Would recommend the Stewarts and mash and the apple cake.

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff as serving traditional danish food. Booking advisable at busy times but very friendly. Lots of character and family friendly

We had a really delicious dinner for a very reasonable price in this cosy little basement restaurant. Perfect hearty meal for a cold evening!

As this restaurant is just across our hotel, my family and I had dinner here. It was a Sunday but it was running a full house so that was a good sign to start with - so best to reserve before coming. The Ms Barners stew was good and hearty, perfect for winter. The veal stew was nice as well.... More
