I came here with a group of friends and after seeing good reviews on here. The restaurant is extremely cute. It has an old fashioned cozy style feel, we sat outside and it was a bit nippy but the chairs had complementary blankets. The staff were helpful and even though the restaurant doesn't have any vegetarian mains, they were able... More

We simply love this place! You simply have to go and eat here. In summer sit out on the pavement - if the weather is inclement dine in the cosy dining room. Fabulous open sandwiches of the highest quality A superb relaxed atmosphere strangely sophisticated yet so friendly and not at all stuffy. Warm staff and seasonal beer - what... More

Amalie is an institution in Copenhagen - a sought after place for lunch in particular; Danish at its best with a twist of elegance... I don't know whether the time has ran away from it or whether it's plain and common sloppiness, but the overall experience was disappointing. The food - two ordered platters and two ordered traditional open ssandwiches... More

Amalie offers the best Danish sandwiches in huge portions besides delicious beers from Fur brewery and a variety of schnapps - served efficiently by a very friendly staff in friendly surroundings - inside or outside.

After searching for a few days for some traditional lunch/dinner food, we came across Restaurant Amalie. Great location, menu and service. Would definitely recommend 'amalie's lunch plate' for a selection of Danish courses... But make sure you come with an empty stomach! Service was the best we had in Copenhagen, and you get a great explanation and variety of tasty... More

This is a really nice place to have lunch if you are seeing the sights in central Copenhagen. We had a variety of smørrebrød which were all excellent. The room is lovely, as was the service. A classy joint.

This is a gem of a restaurant. It is family run, with smart, intimate surroundings and run with effortless courtesy and efficiency. It is located close to the Palace, but is otherwise the preserve of locals and the occasional tourist lucky enough to spot it. Amalie offers a wide variety of Danish and Scandinavian dishes to suit most tastes with... More

Staff is very friendly with English menu as well. Pork tenderloin is very much recommended with mushrooms! :) Definitely a must-visit if you are nearby.

This is a small space only open for a long lunch but it serves good beer and great local seafood. I had pickled herring and local cheese with the draft beer and it was amazing with great and friendly service. It's worth looking for and enjoying some great tastes.

This is a tiny, simple, unpretentious restaurant that serves traditional Danish fare. We chose it because although very much near a tourist hot-spot (Nyhavn) it did not appear to be a tourist trap. The food was delicious and service very friendly. Would have repeated again if we had time. Like most places in Copenhagen, not cheap.

This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
