Had a business dinner here first night in town. Host selected a smoked salmon to start which has lemon dill sauce. I usually don't care for salmon but this was great. Main course was veal steak which was wonderful. Service was wonderful. Beautiful old restaurant that must of has 5-6 sunken rooms in old building in Old Town. Would definitely... More

We'be been there in April 2017 following Tripadvisor 's recommendations. The place is really nice: when you are shown downstairs it seems as if you're entering a cellar. Actually it is a quite large environment composed of several rooms, where the ceilings are characterized by vaulted arches that provide an old style, pleasant atmosphere. Food quality is very good and... More

This restaurant was chosen by us only because it was 30 seconds away from the hotel, but we never regreted our choice. The weather was rainym, so we wanted to have a cosy place to eat and a nice food to eat. This was it. Really nice food, very good service. Atmosphere is amazing. The restaurantis kinda set up on... Booked a set menu for 10 people, we were able to make are own menu, which was really good. At the time of booking, we were recommend different wines for each dish, they were recommended by suitability of the food not the price. On entering the restaurant, it appears to be a small cozy pub, a comfy setting to enjoy... More

We decided to have dinner here on our 2nd night in Stockholm. The fact that it is an old restaurant in a cellar got us interested. The ambience was good. Service was precise and fast. The food (we ordered some Swedish dishes and seafood) was very good! The restaurant was a little bit difficult to locate. The coat attendant could... More

First time visit for us in Stockholm. Situated in the heart of the old town with multiple different restaurants all within the same house. We were in what appeared to be the original cellar which was very cosy and atmospheric Pickled herring to start was superb followed by traditional Swedish meatballs with lingonberries served in generous portions. Swedish apple cake... More

A local colleague brought me to this place for a classic Swedish food. We had the "Gamla Stan Menu" which has reindeer as the main dish. Although the menu is quite pricy (750+ kr), all dishes are really great. (Note that there are also cheaper options.) The restaurant is in the basement of 5 houses, which provides a unique atmosphere.... More

The place is cozy and cute, small rooms here and there, few steps up and down with a cellar type of dinning areas.. The food is tasty and delicious, everyone was pleased with their choices, quite a typical Swedish menu. The waiters are friendly but not necessarily the quickest to attend to the customer.. that's also quite common in Sweden... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
