Do visit this small, friendly, run by husband-and-wife joint in Old Town. The name may be somewhat deceiving, being that it's not a cafe, but rather a noodle joint. That said, it serves up some really delicious noodles in yummy broth! Choose between pork, chicken, and shrimp, in shoyu, miso, or shio broth, and get a bowl of heart warming... More

One of the best bowls of ramen I ever had was at Café Sterna in Gamla Stan and it was delicious. Using quality ingredients and a simple recipe, they had a steady flow of primarily asian guests while we were there. My bowl was thick and creamy with really great flavor depth. My husband’s bowl was light and flavorful, a... More

I tried the shio ramen which was a nice light soup base. Typically I go for tonkotsu which they do not have at this cafe. It was a welcome change from the rich taste of tonkotsu. Braised pork and egg were excellent. Next time I will get extra noodles, pork, and egg!

Always when I find a ramen house I go for it. This one was so good that I had to return on the same trip.

Little ramen restaurant with delicious soups. Tried a garlic-chili miso and a ginger-sea salt shio soup. Very nice place for a short break

We originally stopped by this cafe because we liked the star logo. Went inside expecting very traditional coffee and cakes for a fika, but instead we found a japanese ramen restaurant. Only a few seats, but very nice and cosy, and the food was delicious!

This place is outstanding. It's real authentic ramen. How do you know you may be thinking? Because I've consumed enough ramen bowls in search of that GREAT ramen bowl to know, and this place has it. Affordable and delicious 😋 don't hesitate to stop by and eat some!

This place was amazing. The service was fast and the Shoyu Ramen with pork was heavenly. Not too spicy and not to bland, I ate the whole bowl, broth included, which is saying something because I never drink the broth. Will definitely stop back again before I leave Sweden.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
