Perfect for spending an hour or so for informal meetings. Café and conditorie out of the time, feeling in the old days in Sweden.

We had spent the morning walking around Södermalm (the southern island) and found ourselves in front of this café when lunch time came. It was lucky for us; there was a table downstairs and cauliflower soup was on the menu. It came with a small salad and everything was delicious. There was also a bakery with many kinds of bread,... Not cheap, but valuable and worth. I've been there twice and for sure will ga back again. I suggest you to try the Dansk ragbrod, it's special!

"Café" might mean different things. In some countries (or cultures) it might be more of a bar, in others a light restaurant. Traditionally, I'd say it is a place where you take a cup of coffee and a cake. Alone, with your book, magazine or (novadays) ipad or computer. for study or having a break. Or meeting friends. Swedes gather... More

The café is indeed good in many ways. They sell tasty stuff and its at a good location. Though the interior isnt very cozy. The café it self is fairly old.

We used to pass by this nice place but we never had the chance to come it. Today was our first visit. We really enjoyed it. Food and coffee are great. Everyone there is smiling and helpful. Even the general atmosphere was warm and pleasant. We are looking forward for our next visit. We will bring our friends next time...

Our family had a visit to Stockholm on 1 day from Latvia. We had lunch in Gunnarssons Specialkonditori. We really enjoyed on the 2nd floor and the food was delicious. But my daughter Tanya forgot her jacket on a chair. After returning home I wrote an email to Gunnarssons Special Konditori and employee sent jacket to us in Latvia! Thankee!

This is an old school cafe. It has been in the same location for more than 50 years. No wonder they make what is easily the best chocolate cake in Sweden. Period. After so many decades trying the thing, they seem to have found a formula. Most of their pastries are traditional types. They bake everything in-house. Much of it... More

Not cheap but with a great assortment of traditional bread and cake. Great for Sunday brunch- get there early for a window table in the upstairs restaurant

This is a nice café where you can have all type of taste. You pay for the coffee and can take as much as you want. I would recommend it. They didn't have functioning wi-fi for free. I think, this is a problem especially for travellers who really need it

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighbourhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
