Birthday disappointment

My best friend bought me a voucher for my birthday for Che or Fairways and as Fairways was closed for a couple of weeks we booked last night in Che. The restaurant has lovely ladies serving, they are bright and happy and very willing to help. I ordered the broccoli and cheddar cheese soup which was delicious , my husband has the prawn cocktail he said was lovely. We both decided to have the 8oz George V fillet steak which sounded amazing on the menu. Sadly when the steaks came although my husbands was perfect mine was really small . I told the waitress that I felt this was a really small size and she said they are all weighed before they are cooked , I said I'm so disappointed so she got got the manager , this lady also said verbatim " they were all weighed before cooked "- obviously a standard answer ( has this happened before? ). in my opinion it looked like the end of the fillet . Naturally I felt shortchanged at 32.90€ and asked if I could get an 8 oz medium cooked fillet steak, eventually it was changed and when it was returned in a couple of minutes , I was asked to check it was cooked correctly - unfortunately it wasn't -it was not medium nearly blue - anyway, I asked could you cooked this a little more which they took away to do. The final blow was when it was returned it was now well done and I really didn't want to sent it back again so I ate it. This is a fabulous restaurant with wonderful staff and we were so looking forward to enjoying my birthday celebrations so more than a little disappointed. When we were paying the bill I said to the manger how disappointed I was , coming out for a celebration meal for my birthday and this had happened her reply was we hope you will have an enjoyable time you come back. I wonder if we will ?

We have been to Villamartin 4 times and have tried various restaurants some good, some not. Recommended by some friends we found ourselves in Che Grill and had the Paella which was lovely but whilst we were eating we saw the most incredible looking steaks being delivered to tables and booked there and then to return. Return we did and ordered 2 fillet steaks which we both agreed were some of the best steaks we had ever eaten, they were absolutely stunning. We don’t usually have deserts but were intrigued following the steaks and we were not disappointed. We had the cheesecake, pancakes and banoffee which were all delicious. The restaurant was very busy with some very big parties so the service was a little slow but definitely worth the wait Everyone was friendly and attentive and we will certainly return on our next visit We were a family of 2 adults and 3 children and our bill was 119€ which we thought was very reasonable

That was fantastic!!! Lovely food accompanied by great service 😀, I had the butterfly steak medium rare (the only way you should have steak anything else is wrong) and it was scrumptious and it was huge. Cooked to perfection and had lots of flavour which made it all around amazing, it came with there weird potato things which I wasn't really a fan of, I also had peppercorn sauce which really gave the steak some extra flavour. for starters I had garlic bread which was lovely however I thought it was a bit too big for a starter but it was amazing. On the whole the food was amazing food with good portion sizes, would recommend to anyone around the area and would definitely visit again 😀🧌

Disappointing

We were looking forward to visiting this restaurant and enjoying a good steak. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Both me, my partner, and my niece ordered two medium rares and one rare fillet steak. They all came back medium well done. My partner and niece sent their's back, and we thought oh it'll take a bit before they come back. It didn't. It came back within 5 minutes and was still medium well done. Plus, my partner's substitute steak was tiny. When a restaurant charges prices which are on the higher end, they should know at the very least how to cook a steak medium rare. Our waitress was lovely and we couldn't fault that they reimbursed us for the two steaks and the brie salad which was also very disappointing. The manager didn't seem to understand why we were not happy and asked what do you want us to do. We want you to learn that it's not acceptable to charge higher prices and serve food that isn't the quality it should be. You need to step up.

Restaurant and facilities are spotless. Staff are very nice. We had a fillet steak and a ribeye steak both of which were cooked to perfection. Dauphinois Potatoes as the side. The only complaint is the Chimichurri Sauce. Some red bottled stuff which does not taste or resemble a beautiful Chimichurri freshly made. As an Argentinian Steakhouse you’d expect fresh Chimichurri.

We celebrated GCSE Results day at Che and we weren’t disappointed! Chorizo starter was amazing as were the empanadas. We had a fillet steak, butterfly steak and Valmont Steak (filet stuffed with blue cheese) . The steaks certainly weren’t cheap cuts, and we were asked to check the steaks were cooked correctly before the waiter left (which they were). Crème brûlée, chocolate fudge cake and coffees were also lovely. I’m not sure if people get this place confused with the one at the boulevard? As we cannot fault this place. Service was fast and staff were attentive. Will definitely return !

Great service and amazing food. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection and the restaurant was very knowledgeable for different allergies. They catered for my family for dairy and gluten allergies. Cannot recommend this place enough!! Thank you for this amazing experience

POOR SERVICE FOOD NOT GREAT

Very slow service waited 50 minutes for food. We only ordered pizza and lasagne! No waiter attended our table again until food arrived only then asking if we needed any drinks after sitting for so long. Needless to say left without ordering anything else or tipping as service was nonexistent. Food was dry, salty and below average unfortunately won’t be going again.

It was my Birthday on 20th September and had a meal at Che with 14 guests. I paid the bill at the end of the evening and had a wonderful time. Two weeks later, I was contacted by the manager there and told they had not put the cost of the food on the bill and they wanted me to go and pay it. Don't get me wrong, mistakes do happen and of course I would pay it and did that same day. My issue here is that the staff were not apologetic nor did they offer anything in the way a free meal etc for the good will that I gave and the inconvie ce suffered given it was their mistake and they waited two weeks after we were there to get in contact with me. They need to think themselves lucky I'm a local and here permanently otherwise a tourist would have got on a plane and gone home. Not great for how you treat locals who support these businesses throughout the good times and bad times.

Pre pandemic prices but not pre pandemic portions

Went to Chè last night it was so nice to see them quite busy and the Plaza with some life. We were met by a lovely friendly lady and shown to our table. I originally booked as they were advertising 50% of steak meals but this was not available last night. Understandably the menu was not as big as it used to be but in this climate it probably helps with keeping waste low. All prices were still full price pre pandemic but when the dishes arrived they definitely weren’t pre pandemic portion sizes. There was barely a spoonful of vegetables and a much smaller portion of Spanish potatoes and let’s face it those types of food cost pennies. But the food was very nice and the service was good which is why I’ve given 4 stars. Our total bill was just short of 64€ for two people on soft drinks. Which I think is a tad overpriced. I’ve been eating next door lately and the bill has been the same for three people with one drinking alcohol with a much better choice and portion size. As much as I have loved Chè in the past my money will be spent next door as it gives much more value for money. 🙃

Do not Visit!

A very poor experience! We’ve been here for 2 weeks and have visited the restaurant twice. The first visit the sizzling prawns were flavourless and the steak ordered was well done instead of rare. Undeterred we went again tonight (as everyone can have an off night) but it was particularly bad… My husband ordered the pork shank and it was cold in the centre. Sent it back and waited 20 minutes for a new one and it came out the very same way. Horrendous customer service the manager was rude and didn’t care! Very disappointed the restaurant has definitely gone down hill we’re long standing customers been frequenting for 7/8 years as it was consistently good but we will not be visiting again.

Exceptional steak!

Every year I am in Orihuela I come here for steak as it’s always been the best steak I have had. This time was no different, the food was brilliant, service brilliant, and I will not have steak anywhere else in the area. It’s exceptional. The prices have risen slightly since last year however it’s worth every penny! This place is the real deal!

Service was excellent. Food was delicious especially the spicy ribs just melted in your mouth. Steak was cooked to perfection, also melted in your mouth. Good atmosphere around. Definitely would recommend.

Great food and service for my Dad’s 60th

We ate here on Saturday for my Dad’s 60th. We had a table reserved for 6 adults and 2 children and were seated a spacious table near the from window. My 9 month old nephew turned on the charm and got a lot of attention from the staff and we were served quickly throughout our stay but I’m sure we would’ve been without his cuteness. I ordered the cheesy garlic bread for starter to share with a couple of people as it is a full pizza and knew I’d need plenty of room for the mains. There was plenty of garlic and mozzarella which made for a Good garlic bread but the bottom of the pizza base was slightly burnt in places so probably just needed a minute or two less. It was by no means inedible and we all enjoyed it and it was easily finished so nobody had any issues with the base. For my main I ordered the Shoulder of Lamb which was definitely the star of the show. The lamb is not for the faint hearted as it’s absolutely massive but it’s definitely not quantity over quality as this had both quantity and quality in abundance. The skin was nice and crispy and the lamb was succulent, juicy and full of flavour. I love lamb but it can be a chore to eat if not cooked well but this was cooked to perfection and a pleasure to eat. The potatoes were well cooked and fluffy, the sauce was very tasty and a nice addition. The others on my table really enjoyed their steaks but I feel the lamb will be very tough to beat and I’d struggle not to get the lamb again when we next return. Great food and service, I’d highly recommend.
