About
Cozy family owned restaurant offering steaks, seafood, pizza, pasta or burgers made with passion. Our food is not off the shelf, but homemade from scratch. We offer typical icelandic dishes like lamb and cod or catfish in a fresh, modern style. In the summer time it is great to sit outside in our plaza and enjoy delicious food, snacks and cocktails. Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Husavik and in the city centre you can't miss us.

We were visiting Husavik on the way back to Akureyri and stopped in Restaurant Salka for lunch. If you are a vegan/vegetarian - look no further, Their buffet is right up your alley. Regardless, have the tomato soup. And their fish dishes are mouth watering. We want to thank them for accomadating us ( a group of 15 weary travelers) and providing a delicious and wholesome lunch.

It is a good place to stop for a longer or shorter time. Very good food and good service. Þurftum ekkert að bíða and was immediately received well at us. My wife and I sat in, for everything was in the sun, and it was not the sun. Maturinn liked well out a at fengum oss forréttaplattandand and beikon, sveppa and whitlouks ostabrauðið. Sósurnar sem komu með var rusínan í pylsuendanum. Everything was very good and við nutum well. It is also a place to sit and play, talk and eat good food. Cooking at the barnum was very attractive and the place had become a small place where shamtarnir are well out there. Heldur is it wvetjandi for us to come back i góðu weather and sit uti með fallega útsýninu yfir sjóinn. Had been awarded 5 stars if the price was not in Swiss/Tourist Tax Treaty.

Good food in a beautiful house. I had the chicken pasta which was very tasty and good portions. My husband and son had grilled lamb, the portions were quite small but very tasty. I couldn't finish my food so my husband finished for me and thought the pasta was very good.

The fish of the day was ok though ridiculously priced for a local baked fish with a few herbs, rice and potatoes. The service was poor. After waiting a while I finally got hold of a waiter and asked for the list of deserts. 20 minutes later, I got up, paid and left without knowing if there would have been something I would have liked. Too many tourists accepting high prices and indifferent service in Husavik? I think not based on the much better meal and attentive service I had in the hotel the previous night

He visited Sölku almost every year for the last four hours of the year from all the days of Mærudögum, and always was satur, with good people and good services and Tómatsúpu. Now it seemed something needed to be fixed, because the citizen was below the table, at this time. I took the beacon tree and the wine of my cheese tree, and I thought that I was with a beacon tree, and that I was with a beacon tree. My vineyard was not able to produce eggs, but it was not possible, because the cook would not do it. The bourgeoisie was no wonder that at this point I was lucky to think then that it is possible to make the mouth better, because the good hamburgers are no geimvísindi. My wife ordered the tomato soup, and from forty years she was also unwell. that my dead lie in the water in the mixture of cooking, thus is the meeting of the ethical cooking that disrupts a not real grill cooking, and thus unfortunately then this was not the feeling to go out to eat something good but only the venjulegur hadegismatur at the work of the wine. Gleðilega Mærudaga. Borgarinn ** Þjónustan ***** Súpan *** House and place *****

Lunch and Dinner on two separate days. Very friendly and charming place right by the whale tours in lovely Husavik. The Langustino soup was very good but a little on the luke warm side only (lunch). The seafood pizza was very good and a large portion. Wine and local beer were good. But the staff and the upstairs section was wonderful. So much charm, the server even moved the table to the window to overlook the beautiful harbor. Mostly appreciated that neither whale nor puffin were on the menu to feed the curios tourist. Fresh and delicious food, prompt service and the remarkable friendliness of the northern Icelandic people!

I never experienced such a bad food in the restaurant. Getting soup from a frozen mix of seafood when behind the window you can see a harbor it’s kind of sad. I had fish of the day, which was Arctic Char- fish very similar to Lax. I don’t understand how you can kill the taste of the fish by covering it in a bread crumbs. I’m guessing that the chef of the kitchen is a big fan of carbs- serving fish in bread crumbs with potatoes and rice. Unfortunately not everyone can take so big portion of carbs, definitely not me.

After the typical day on whale watching and baths we went to this restaurant near the port. Full of tourists but kind personnel. Unpretentious menu but good average food. Prices reasonable for the area. Overall good experience.

The food is very ok, no issue on that side. Good food, well served. But our experience with two members of the staff was a plain disaster (the day we were there, that is on the 29th of July 2021). At the moment we entered, an aggressive woman told us "wait here". After a few minutes she came back and asked what we wanted. We had to wait for about ten minutes to have a table, but again that’s very ok, as all the restaurants were full. Once installed, I wanted to order their plain breadsticks as a starter. But the waitress misunderstood what I said, or was angry for something else, I don’t know (and I don’t care), looked up to the sky and left without listening the rest of our order! She came back with some bread instead… We saw the waitress and the woman at the entrance talking about us and looking toward us, but I have no idea what they was saying. None of them came to us to apologize for the behavior or at least the misunderstanding. Then, with another waitress who was kind and professional, we finally managed to order what we wanted. So congratulations, restaurant Salka, it’s the absolute first time I have to complain about something in an Icelandic restaurant. My advice to the manager is to quickly ask these two persons to change their behavior. It’s good and very ok to make money with good food, but taking advantage of the place (little town, few restaurants) to provide less to the customer is simply not good.

We were getting ready to go on a whale/puffin cruise and wanted a light lunch so had the tomato soup and bread. Iceland serves a lot of soups for lunch. The rest of the menu looked great, we just wanted something light.

Our fish soup was not as good as ones we’ve had at less expensive places in Iceland. Breadsticks were good but undercooked inside. They rely on their great location and don’t work hard enough on the food.

We went in for dinner without booking and the staff found a table for us. Service was really quick and polite, food was fantastic (ordered fish of the day and beef sirloin). Very varied menu so catered for multiple tastes. Meal was slightly more than we paid elsewhere in Iceland, but we were anticipating this as we were in the north. Would highly recommend for dinner and suggest requesting a table by the window on the upper floor so you can look out over the bay

Ate a delicious meal here with our tour group. Service was friendly and efficient despite a variety of special meal requests (vegetarian; gluten free; pescatarian). It also seemed to have a number of local people eating at the restaurant as well.

Great experience all round. Friendly and efficient service, excellent food - tasty, hot, well-cooked, innovative and good presentation. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we went back again the next night. You can't get a better recommendation than that! The attached photo is of the fish of the day.

Quite a cozy looking place inside and out, bit we ended up leaving with a bad taste in our mouths, pun intended. My partner got a burger which turned out to be a greasy fast food wannabe, and not what you’d expect of a place like this. I had the opposite issue with my catfish. Seemed like they were trying to make it overly fancy with foam and stuff. The ‘grilled vegetable’ aspect of the dish was legitimately two lonely carrots as you can see in my photo. I felt like the dishes were fairly inconsistent. One trying to be a fancy michelin star, and another went the greasy-but-good fast food avenue (unsuccessfully). Fish itself was fine, but it didn’t sit right. The whole thing came to something like 8 and a half thousand kr which is kind of extortionate for two mains, a side, and a beer even by Icelandic standards.
