Went with my 2 daughters, decided to drop by as only went in for a drink the last time I was there on another trip. Had a broccoli soup and my eldest had the meat soup. Delicious! Cannot wait to go back! Soup served in...a bread bowl with butter. Especially nice on a cold day!More

Still raving about this place almost a year on. One spicy meat soup For my partner and an amazing mushroom soup for me. The best soup ever served in a crusty bread roll. Several couples there all having one of each type of soup and...a coffee. Would definitely return.More

We visited Reykjavik for a day at the end of our roundtrip. We had so many great soups during our trip that we started to crave for a hot cup of fish soup when walking around Reykjavik city center, we thought: "let's enjoy a delicious...Icelandic soup one more time". So we noticed this sign outside saying this place serves the best soup. What a lie that turned out to be! What a tourist trap. It tastes like a thick cup-a-soup. It is served from a big warmingpan that is kept warm for hours on the bar. The taste was terrible, nothing natural or authentic, thick and the creamy kind. An insult to the delicious Icelandic soups we had throughout our trip. The big bread bowl the soup was served in, tasted old. They ask premium price for this. A disgrace. Walking out, we felt screwed.More

A good place for lunch even in the late afternoon since they seem to be open throughout. Soup was good if perhaps not as excellent as some of the home-made ones we had around the rest of Iceland.

We had the most lovely meal here. Just a short walk for our hotel, The Alda, we had the meat soup. It comes served is a large crusty bread cob, no waste!! It was served very quickly and cost around £12 each. Deliciously tasty and...warming in very cold conditions outside in January. If you visit Reykjavik, do not miss Svarta Kaffid. It’s amazing.More

This was the perfect quick dinner spot for my husband and I to eat dinner and warm up before a night tour of the lights. My aunt told me when she was there a few months prior they had reindeer soup, but their menu changes...nightly. I had a soup with lamb. It was delicious, and seemed very local.More

We were met in a friendly way and got our food really quickly. A creative way to serve a soup! The soup was tasty and the location good. Deserves a visit when you are in Reykjavik :)

This is one of the most expensive soups I have ever had in my life. Prices for meals in Iceland aren’t cheap so make sure you bring the extra cash. This soup in a bowl of bread was 1,950 Icelandic Krona which is equivalent to...around £11! Everyday they have two different soups with the option of meat or veggie and they offer some bread and butter to go with it. I tried the veggie soup with some pieces of bacon which was very tasty and full of flavour. Unfortunately for a bowl of soup that cost £11 you would only get about 5/6 soup spoons full of soup before u reach the bottom. It was interesting to see that this place was so busy and there was always a queue outside.More

There are only four things on offer at this restaurant – alcohol, coffee, a loaf of bread and soup. You order your drinks, and then you get a choice of one of two tasty soups, and the soup is served to you inside a hollowed...out round loaf. The place is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in Reykjavík and you get a simple, yet filling meal which is fun to eat because serving soup that way is such a novelty. You don’t go hungry because as well as having the soup, you can also eat the rest of the loaf. The place is very busy so you may have to wait a while for a table. They don’t do desserts but you can have a coffee afterwards.More

Excellent hot tasty soup in a roll. Only a choice of meat or vegetarian. Meat with bacon and ham and chorizo with a chilli kick and delicious mushroom in a fresh crusty bread roll. We had one if each as did most couples there with...a coffee and a beer for lunch. Would recommend. Good price for Iceland.More

I am not sure. The bread bowls are rye bread bowls. That is for certain.
